When they did this in 2012 I think there was a PH Sunday Service at Silverstone for the final day of the racing with parking in the infield. Any plans to do this again by any chance?

As I said in the other thread, unfortunately Ferrari haven't got back to us on some details so it doesn't look like it'll be happening this year.

Thanks for the update. That's a shame but I'll check back between and the date in case anything does get organised last minute. I will likely be there in any case as Ferrari should be sending me some tickets but won't be the same without the PHers in attendance. I know my nephew (another PHer) was looking to attend too.

Just checked on the website but can't see if there are a limited number of tickets for each day. Was thinking of buying on the door on the day incase of bad weather. Can anyone help out?

It was a great weekend two years ago and to see and hear some of the cars on the track was just unforgettable. It's only £20 for two days which is great value and was worth it.

I have bought tickets - it is well worth it. Last time the whole experience was excellent, 599s up close, the privateer F1 cars blasting round, static displays and showroom...

I've bought tickets already but it would be great to have in field parking like last time, even if I am in just a civic diesel.

Can I ask why the link for the sign up list isn't in the Sunday service section this time?

Eybic. You've already proved you couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery with the Pistonfest debacle.

If Garlick was still running the show this would be shouted from the rooftops and over-suscribed by now. I managed to find it by going to the members calendar. Why not create a thread instead of making cryptic comments?

I'm not sure whether you're just an idiot out of your depth/in need of training/need sacking, but I hope for the sake of future PH gatherings that Paul's successor takes over the reins and makes a better job of it.

^ Maybe a bit harsh, but I spent ages looking for the story about the Silverstone SS, only to find the link on the Pistonfest SS story. Why wait until the real story is live before adding it to the calendar?

Hi there Mr Sunbeam,

Wow. That's a fighty (and harsh) post if ever I've seen one! Blimey.

Firstly, I should introduce myself - I'm Paul's replacement. Hi.

Secondly, You've made some pretty unfair and presumptive comments about eybic (Nathan) without being in possession of the facts. Yes, PistonFest was somewhat of a mishap, but this simply cannot be levelled entirely at Nathan. Equally, the Sunday Service we've just run that more or less replaced PF received excellent reviews all round and is generally being considered to be one of the very best Sunday Services yet (not our words - check out the discussion in the thread)- this is largely down to Nathan's efforts.

Thirdly, the reason that you haven't been able to find the thread about the Ferrari Racing days event at Silverstone is that we haven't set the story live yet (it is going live today as it happens). But why the wait to publish the story you're wondering? Is it because we're lazy? Out of our depth? Or are we in need of training?

Nope. It is none of those things. It is because of 2 main reasons:

1) We were keen to summarise the previous Sunday Service first in order to find the winner of our raffle. Equally, we wanted to announce the event with a news story and not just a thread in the forum (if we don't do this far fewer people will have a chance to see it and sign up and understandably we'd be heavily criticised for that) and we have an editorial plan that we have to fit in with.

2) Perhaps more importantly we were waiting for some final details from Ferrari. Without these we wouldn't have been able to produce a concise article full of useful information like what we're actually offering. (following from the previously mentioned PF mishap I'm keen that we don't advertise anything until ALL the details are known)

As it happens I'm absolutely in favour of giving more notice for our Sunday Services - I think it will improve things and it is something that we're working towards for next year.

Despite all of this there is also one other critical thing we need to consider; Last year when the Sunday Service was held at Ferrari racing days and Garlick was "running the show" he only actually advertised the event and started "shouting from the roof tops" 12 days before the event. Twelve. This year's event is 11 days away... so we're a whole one day behind schedule. Interestingly though on balance we are actually ahead of where we were last year because we set the event live on the calendar on Monday (a day earlier than last year) and linked to it from the article on the last Sunday Service. Subsequently, as I write this we have over 300 people signed up already.

So to summarise, I think you may be looking back on last year with some spectacles of the rose-tinted variety. Nathan, I and everyone at PH wants nothing more than to organise excellent events for as many people as possible to enjoy.

I'd be happy to discuss this and share our future plans with you (or anyone else that's interested) in person at Silverstone if you decide to come.

To finish on a more upbeat note, your post has sparked an idea for an event. Has anyone ever actually been to a p*ss up in a brewery?! It is a common saying but I've never done it... but it sounds excellent fun. Would this not be an excellent social event for us to organise?! Perhaps this could be a less formal replacement for Black Tie and Pie... drink

JD

Harsh, not very constructive. Not the sort of post that is going to inspire confidence and determination to cater for the thousands of PHers that are interested. If you saw the effort that went into the Sunday Service you probably wouldnt have posted this bile.

Hi JD,

Thank you for taking the time to compose your reply. In hindsight my post may have appeared overly aggressive for which I apologise. I do however stand by some of my comments.

As PH exists largely online, my impressions are mostly formed by what I read on the forum, which to date have not always been positive. I'm happy for you that the Sunday Service went so well.

You may need to hurry, otherwise your article may have to end "thanks for reading, but don't bother to try and register as it's already fully booked by members who found their way to it via other threads/the calendar."

This does not appear to me to be the best way to launch the event, and may cause some ill-feeling.

On the subject of Sunday Services in general, could I make a suggestion that you wait until late in the day/early evening to launch registration? For those if us with limited internet access during the day it's very frustrating to log on in the evening, find a new Sunday Service, and find that it is already over-subscribed. I appreciate that many people drop out nearer the time, but I can't wait to the last minute as I have to book a ferry or Eurotunnel to come, and the prices are too high unless you can book in advance.

(I appreciate that hardly anybody else is affected by this!) smile

Not at all - I've attended quite a lot of PH events, some have been much better than others.

Unfortunately it clashes with another event (although I'd much rather be going to Silvestone).

I organise classic car events myself (250 cars at the last one) and appreciate the level of work and commitment that goes into setting up something like a Sunday Service. I hope that PH events remain as successful as ever!

Wow. I presume as we are all being frank, I can tell you that you are incredibly rude and perhaps need an early night tonight.
