Asking on behalf of a friend who has a Skagen currently and is looking to upgrade.

Max Bill, Nomos and possibly a speedy were my thoughts so far (not sure on speedy though - it's not slim but I think he'd like it).

Cheers.

That sort of budget will get you an awful lot of Longines.

If he likes Skagen's style, something like this might be right up his street, and is well below budget at £750...

Without knowing what your friend's taste is - other than wanting a slim watch - I'd suggest the classic and master collections to have a nobby at first.

Thanks fun. As ever, with a 2-2.5k budget, he's really looking for something in that bracket though.

The trouble is that the £2.5k budget is quite a tricky one for new watches (assuming he wants new). As you note, the Speedy Pro is pretty much the default choice at that price, but your friend’s requirements for a slim automatic rule it out on both counts.

You get a lot more “bang for your buck” with Longines, and they are a respected Swiss brand too (one of the oldest watchmakers iirc). Respectfully I would choose a Longines over the brands you mentioned.

There are Longines up at your friend’s budget, but I would suggest that the watch I linked to fits the bill at a third of the cost. Until he has a clearer idea of what’s he’s after I would recommend a browse at their website to see if anything “sings out”.

Something like this would be where my money went...

If you're worried about import duty etc, cheaper models are available (and watches in Europe etc).

No problem, bud smile

I've bought from them before and the service was excellent (I also haggled a little more off) BUT I was in the US at the time so had not VAT/ Duty worries!

Erm, no. It's a Chopard. Hence the fact it has Chopard written on the dial. Am I missing a whoosh parrot here ?

I could have worded it better!

I meant that or maybe a Cartier...

Appreciate the suggestion but it's not really a slim line watch, unless I'm missing something?

Not at all, I just never thought of a Cartier as anything other than slim compared to many.

Fair point though...

You have good taste. I especially like that Chaumet Dandy.
Merci beaçoup, monsieur!
A fashion house brand, but nevertheless, still a nice attractive watch.
