Taxxxxxxxxxxxxxxiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!

No place at all on here, but, hey, its the kind of daft toy I end up in!

Bagged this from ebay for a few smiles

It was only about 10 minutes down the road

910k miles!

Built in Birmingham by MCW

Rare old beast

Now, why did I buy it? No real idea. Been fun driving round in it already.

:-)

I want to drive one (the most rattely cab variety I've been in), I'd never be as mad as to buy one though! Well done, keep us updated on what you do with it (become a cabbie?)

Bloody good that looks like a lowered Range Rover!. All the fun of a black cab without the rusty body. I told my Mrs I was getting one, she said she is not sitting in a taxi that everyone has puked up in.

She's a little too old for that now.

After 910k miles, retirement awaits.

Saved it from death anyway or banger racing so all is good.

Its resting in a parking space up at the unit that next door used to try and nick!

I'll post some more pics if anyones interested?

Thanks for all the replies :-)

Cool. I've driven a few black cabs on film sets, amazing turning circle but lots of wheel twirling!

Sounds like a good excuse for a man maths style engine transplant?

DVLA say first reg 31/6/88 - and MOT until July '15...

I like that a lot. Definitely a bit different.

GRP panels, but is there anything steel structural in there, beyond subframes? Chassis or P6/DS-style shell?

my thoughts exactly, a nice yank v8 (try and mute it a bit) and enjoy the traffic light grand prix.

Its the forgotten taxi, looks more like a squashed Ford Granada mk2 to me.

Do you have a family or plan to do something whacky with the abundance of rear room?

That's crying out for a yank V8 going in the front. I would say in the back but it would ruin the sleeperness of it!

Getting some fake taxi plates and driving through bus lanes are we? laugh

Whatever you do, you owe it the chance to reach 1,000,000 miles. It would be heartbroken if it fell short. Probably.

The Wikipedia page for the metrocab is a bit bare. Nows your chance to fill it out with extensive Metrocab knowledge...or at least get your pic of your cab on the page.

Engine swap for a w140 s600 V12 (a la pagani zonda) or some kind of w16 maybe?
