Not sure what you mean by threaded hole but there should be a sender that you can connect to on your Apollo tank already.

I ran a wire from the sender to a switch I fitted below the gauge.

I can only think that your apollo tank isn't the standard item? Does it look like this?

Notice the temp sender sticking out the top just obscured by the oil hoses. Best image I could find sorry!

I really didn't think the Apollo tanks were different. I have a picture I can dig out as just replaced my Apollo hoses last service and also fitted the switch and took some pictures.

The above picture does give you an idea where the sender should be. It is 1/3 up from the bottom hose. Hoses normally orientated towards RHS (driving) of engine bay and the sender should be sticking out.

If you look under S3 parts on caterham parts site you will see the hole in the Apollo tank for the sender.

Hope that helps.

On this subject - where does the small piece of baffle foam go in relation to the Apollo tank?

Top of Apollo tank take off goes to the cam cover of the engine. The foam is situated in the can cover.

Gingerbread Man and Stu... My apollo is exactly like those, minus the temp sender bit it should have(??!!)... Do I have other alternatives?
I have a take off down by the oil filter which goes to a mechanical oil pressure gauge and low pressure warning light. You could do similar and put a temp sender in?

Will dig out pictures I took of mine but as Gingerbread man says... Fit a sender to the tank, and wire this to a gauge or switch. I have both temps shown in my water gauge using a switch to display either.
