(from the barges thread - cross posted to a wider audience)

We have recently exchanged our Saab estate for a new(er) Merc.

The Saab was named Lisbeth (may her wheels always be shod with proper tyres). This one has been named Angela.

Debadged of course;

Funky roof;

Expensive HiFi;

Distracting TV and 6 disc DVD changer;

Sufficient propulsion.

The number plate is not mine, and the car will be reverting to a normal plate as soon as the DVLA can process the paperwork.

I was about to ask if it was debadged as it was a 220 CDi, then I scrolled down.....

Lovely looking estate these, been looking at the various models and prices recently, 2010 onwards, especially the 350 CDI V6 as no way I could afford to run a V8.
What year is this?

2010. The 350cdi is probably the better car (and far easier to find) but would have been more expensive...

Very nice! Do people just transfer plates from their old car to hide the fact they have a new car? Always wondered, seen a few cars about with seemingly meaningless plates.

Regarding the plate; you may be able to guess the previous owners initials I suspect.

Ah fair enough, thought that could be the case but didn't look obviously personalised.

What a fantastic car - I have never seen a V8 version of this model.

Is it the same 388 bhp version that was under the bonnet of the previous E Class?

I now need one of these!

Yes, 385 odd bhp, and similar torque.
Sufficient.

They don't make a 'normal' large petrol e class any more.

At least MB are still getting some good hp figures with the new small capacity but blown engines. I could not face the 4 pot diesel versions!

I saw a CL500 of the same vintage a few days ago and it looked fantastic.

Shame, I did check the MB site when I saw this thread.

BMW do a 550i, but only in Saloon and probably not for much longer..

Rather nice. I like it a lot.

An awful lot more 'Q' than our 2000-model E55 estate.

Blatant bump for an update. The clever tyre pressure thing works well, just don't ask me how I know... frown

That's excellent, from a 550 Touring owner!
