I am a relatively new owner of an '07 E92 M3.
My dash tells me the next service is due 9/14 and 12,000 (on start up).
Yet the last service in the book was at 60k miles in January and I have done 67k now.

The car has the correct date set for today.

What is going on?
Will all hell break lose in September? Should I take it in then?
Has the previous service simply failed to reset the date?

On the iDrive everything gives me 10k+ on distance to next service (brakes & oil etc...) or just "OK".

I know I should have spotted this on purchase but I was too excited and the book seemed up to date...

Any ideas...? Thanks.

The only way to answer that is to take your key into someone with a reader and get them to tell you what the car thinks is due. The nice lass on the service counter at your local dealership will do it for you, I'm sure... smile

The key??

Turns out the key knows more about my car than I do...!

Thanks - I will certainly try this...!

Somewhere on the idrive there's a statutory inspection date (i.e. mot), is that set to September by any chance?

Hmmm - that could well be it. Certainly the MOT is due then. That would make way more sense.

I did call the local dealer and they said they have a key fob reader on the front desk so I can double check whether anything is needed.

Fantastic! I am going to play with the iDrive now and reset the MOT test date if I can to see if that changes the date on the dash on start-up.

If it does then I am looking at nearly another TWO YEARS without the need for a major service - awesome!

Thanks very much for the help!
