Indicator not working, any ideas?
Discussion
Noticed when I was last out on my Yamaha XJ6 that the left indicator wasn't working, to start with I thought it be have been the bulb, but it's both front and back, and strangely works when the hazard lights are on. Right hand one works fine.
When i put it on, it doesn't come up on the screen that it's on, but does when I select the right hand one.
I'm struggling to google the answer at the moment.
Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be?

I would suggest the first and possibly easiest method would be to trace all the wiring from the front and rear, on the left hand side and to check for any potential damage.
Check the resistors too, Also if you feel confident enough to do so take the handle bar control apart and check the switch is activating the appropriate circuit. Given one side and the hazards are working this would seem to be the most likely cause of the problem.

As others have said, it sounds like the switch, see below:
The relay is common for left/right, so it can only be the switch or a wire, the wire from the switch normally goes in the loom and ends up behind the headlight where it is split with one wire going to the front and one to the rear.
Have you tried turning the steering in full lock either way or moving the wires where they go from the tank to the back of the headlight as they sometims break due to being bent left/right over the years, I had that happen on my 1981 650.
