All... Just got back from a 200 mile blast In my 2004 Tuscan S... It has v nice cans on the back by the carbon can co... And as I pulled into the garage... It sounded odd. Upon looking underneath.. Where there is a junction out of the left hand box that attaches to the can end... It has sheared.. Virtually off. Now... Should this "join" be repaired or do I need a new rear end section... If so.. Is some outfit like quick fit going to have a box to fit it? Not had or done anything in terms of exhaust in the 7 years I have had it.... It seems such a small break..any advice welcome as I have no idea about this sort of thing... Cheers chaps...

Think this is a common weak link, I had to have both rear cans replaced earlier this year due to corroded joints to the forward system. Nothing wrong with the body of the cans but couldn't be welded. Around £300 for a new pair.

If you mean the spigot that comes out of the rear box for the can to slide over then yes it can be fixed.
My left hand one did this a couple of weeks ago and anyone that can weld stainless should be able to re attach the spigot

Cheers guys... Did you get a welder or similar to do this .. Or do you think somewhere like Quickfit could do it? I have no idea about exhausts as you can tell!!!

Just had to have the exhaust repaired on mine, the weld cracked on the inlet to the back box.

Was mig welded with no problem, although will be fitting a ACT system next year.

That's exactly where mine has gone... Where your nice shiny new part joins the box.. Where the clamp is... It is hanging off that.. Where did you get yours done .. Locally,,, or at a main garage / retailer... God I am so crap with this part of the car... Fine with everything else... Never ever had to do anything except bung the carbon cans on the end...LOL... Good to know it's not just me.. And very glad it didn't sever completely at 120mph+ on M25.... Thanks...

Fortunately I know someone with a mig welder, but would think a good exhaust place would be able to sort it out for you.

Carbon cans are heavy so the load on the connection to the back box is quite high.

I realised that this could be a future problem and had mine reinforced with triangular plates welded on.

Same happened to mine and got custom exhaust place to weld it back together. Cost about £20.

Not long after I got a set of CCCs which were about half the weight of my sleeved original cans. Far less chance of the weld going again now.

Got them from the classifieds. They come up occasionally so keep an eye out. I ran sleeved originals for about a year before I got the CCCs and can't believe I didn't do it sooner.

/\ /\ this /\ /\ .

Take it to a custom exhaust specialist and get them to bend some tubes to replace the back boxes. Much stronger and they sound epic!

Lets see a picture of whats left.

MIG weld is fine, but make sure they use stainless wire, if they use regular mig wire it'll rust as its ferrous.

I went to a Longlife exhaust centre who had some back boxes made for me which they welded on. Cost was £110 plus vat

thats ok, if it isn't too big you can just insert another bit of tube and weld it in. If the hole is damaged it might need plating around first.
