Moving to Cookridge
Discussion
So, the parents decided to sell the house and find somewhere else to live (yes, yes I still live at home so will be tagging along. Laaaame) The ol' mum found a bungalow in Cookridge and just had the offer accepted. So looks like it's ours.
One question is what's the insurance ratings etc like over in Cookridge? I'm moving from an LS17 postcode which was pretty low risk.
Also, any fellow Cookridge'ers that see a 24 year old struggling on digging the garden up or anything...giz' a wave!

Don't think it's too bad and it's a nice place. I used to live in Horsforth back in the eighties and we did look at Cookridge before moving to LS17 ourselves. Only thing was the Hilly nature of the place. Some of the houses were a little odd with the upside down ones and some where the Hall was on the top floor along with the bedrooms. Shouldn't be a problem with a bungalow. If it is close to Horsforth then it was a great place to socialise and it's close to getting out to some good roads. Good for Plane spotting as well.
I think Cookridge is generally fairly average on insurance, I'm another former Horsforth resident (early 2000's) and insurance there was never an issue despite me being right next to the Hawksworth Estate.
The only issue I could see would be if you got grouped in with high claims from posh areas around there or if the airport / flightpath had an impact.

In that case, I live about 5 houses away from you
Ha! I'll keep an eye out for your Celica (is it?) So far the only mildly interesting cars I've seen are a red Focus ST parked opposite, a loud RX8 and a lime green Exige yesterday morning. And you're right MonkeyB, we don't hear the planes at all. The Saturday/Sunday footballers over the road are more noticable.

I wonder if that was my old Exige that I just sold a couple of weeks ago. It lived a couple of miles from you for the last 3 years.gretsch drummer said:

I used to see the exige on a morning, awesome colour!
There's some epic cars over the golf course in Adel, there is or was a Ferrari F40 floating around but I haven't seen that in ages

I know the family who owned that big house half way down Holt lane and the dad use to own a nice F355 but this was a good 12+ years ago.
Then there's the farmer along Cookridge Lane (something 'Pickles' I think) who has a car graveyard inc' Evos and subarus just sitting. Can even see all the cars he's stashed in his woods on google earth.

Funnily enough one of my best mates owns the barn conversion next to that house, the guy with the 355 moved out a while back and there has been 2 other families in that house since if memory serves, the last guy tried to sell it for a few hundred K more than it was worth but got bartered downThen there's the farmer along Cookridge Lane (something O'brien I think) who has a car graveyard inc' Evos and subarus just sitting. My mate was considering buying it to have both buildings
Well my dad had an exciting night last night. On his way home coming from Bramhope and just before the left hand bend on Cookridge Lane he spots a Subaru pretty bent up, on it's side and on fire with the driver banging for help stuck inside.
Lucky sod.
