Should never have days off work. Here I am minding my own business and looking on the net. Next thing I note is that I bought a 1966 Pontiac GTO project. I cant even blame it on drinking lol. Lots and lots to do, but will be a cool car once finished.
Best thing is that my partner was happy about it lol. She is great.

It was that 66. I am getting pics emailed over tomorrow and will then post some.
It is going straight to the restorers for the works to commence. I am sure the garage must roll there eyes at me. They give one of my cars back to me and nearly finish another and they get another one in return lol.
I am debating about whether to put it back to original or to do a custom version.

Bravo... a resto type thread would be great. Are you putting up some pics etc.. Being a significant car I take it that a close to original type restoration will be done. A post car was regarded as desirable in the drag racing scene as being a lighter body and more rigid than other 2 door. What are the factory options? may not have any being a post model?
cheers...

I have a couple of pics now so will upload when on laptop. We will be restoring back to stock apart from a tuned engine and disc brake conversion. I will also start a resto thread. Not sure when work will actually be commencing but it is going straight to the restoration shop. First thing I will start sorting is an order from America for the body parts needed.
Ok pictures would be good... Try and buy where possible original parts or Nos due to the difference in quality from repro parts etc... Was it an auto or manual? I may be able to help with some of the parts required as restored a number of GTOs...might have some bits around. Intention with drivetrain? Good GTO parts are quite expensive when compared to chevy etc.. parts. Good luck with it.
Any help or parts will be very much appreciated. The car is an auto. I was debating about manual but been recommended to me that I should go for a 4 speed auto. The car is going to need a fair few parts lol. First is a floor lol. Im going to set up a resto thread once project started.
Ok...good. The original would of been a heavy duty 2 speed auto then... A 3 speed auto will suffice (not being a big heavy car). Its more work going from auto to manual than the other way round... pedals..extra bracing on rear of chassis etc... If body off chassis for fabrication etc...keep body braced... or on a dolly or something like that..keep checking floor pan / boot floor repairs with chassis for mounting alignment. Cheers.
