Cheers!
The Tiger Moths were pretty slow, and stayed visible overhead for quite a while. The second lot were a dark red colour, low wing monoplanes with a much louder engine noise and were travelling significantly faster. I mentioned them to my wife when I went back into the house, and she said "oh, that's what that racket was".

We went on Saturday. Fortunately, the traffic wasn't too bad at all, as we arrived at Sandbanks at 10.30am. We grabbed a coffee at my Father's place then dove to Canford and walked the promenade up to Bournemouth Pier.
It was absolutely heaving around the pier entrance, but definitely worth while braving the crowds.
The Lancaster always brings a tear to my eye and, as my FiL used to fly them in the RAF, the Vulcan is always something we make time to watch.
All in all, a good day out. A few too many helicopter displays and a few too few fast jet displays was a slight downside but at £0 entry, I'm not going to complain!!

Bin the helicopters and other slow stuff and bring back the role demo & F16.
You'll be pleased to know then it was the last display season for the army air corps lynx display, and the chinook mk2 display (although most people say that's a highlight) I also think the black cats are impressive. The merlin/lynx in the beach assault is probably the only pointless display as most people can't see what's going on. My highlight was the sea vixen, canberra and hunter flypast with a superb break at the end. I think it could be the highlight of the whole season.

I will be even more pleased if they bring back the Tornado display. The trio flypast was good. Vulcan & Typhoon stole it for me though. My highlight was the sea vixen, canberra and hunter flypast with a superb break at the end. I think it could be the highlight of the whole season.
Does anyone know what Royal Navy ships were there?
The big one was RFA Argus:
HMS Westminster was the one with the folded Merlin on its stern:
The pointy one off to the right was HMS Mersey. An offshore patrol vessel.
The final one which was off to the left was a French minesweeper, I didn't catch it's name.
