Anyone want to plumb our Rayburn in? we've been too busy trying to fit windows, plaster & render walls etc.
<runs away very quickly>
Ahh, rayburn angst...it must be winter smile
Be fair, it has sat ignored in the middle of the kitchen since about June hehe just too much other stuff to do. So we currently have loads of wood for heat but the neither the Rayburn or log burner are fitted yet....

I was at Heathrow until about 6:30 this morning! But now I'm at home and will be in bed in about 30 minutes smile

So how bad is this 'hurricane' going to get down here? Winds definitely picked up this morning, the clouds overhead are moving at quite rate.

In the south it shouldn't be any worse than a normal winter storm - the stronger winds are up north. Don't be fooled by the current lull, our winds should pick up again around lunch.

Good good. So rail chaos and idiots incapable of driving. Normal early winter it is.

Bad news chaps. It was going to be a winterpocalypse but I've inadvertently bought a 4x4 so now it will be the mildest, most boring winter on record. Sorry about that.

What a load of old poo this broccoli is turning out to be, not even a pea so far over here in the most civilised part of Europe!

3 dead so far in the UK - compared to none in Bermuda when it was actually a hurricane...

Last winter was the mildest I have seen in my entire life - there was a very very light frost ONE morning. That was as cold as it got.

Reason: the OH got a V70 AWD on winter tyres, and I spent a fortune on Conti Wintercontacts for my SLK. I also had 8 of those big bottles of Lidl -60C screenwash. So even now I have no idea if the tyres are any cop, or indeed if AWD V70s are any good at anything.

It's got noticeably colder here, so we now can't see out the windows due to condensation. frown

Just a heads up - northern lights have been amazing so far this year. Apparently there's a twist in the Earth's magnetic field or something, so if you want to see them then now is a really good time to go in terms of the likelihood and how good they will be. I'm seeing them most nights each week since it's got dark here, whereas normally it's far less frequent.
