The Hudson River almost never freezes completely, at least not in the section bordering the New York City.
But this year, it’s coming pretty damn close...

Here. Thought it's slowing down a bit now I've shoveled the drive. Due to finish some time this evening, though there's more on the way Saturday.

In fact, there's a good chance of some snow every day now up to and including evening through to Tuesday.

Another polar maritime shot over the next few days. Strong winds from the NW, increased chance of snow in the same areas - elevated areas facing the Atlantic in the NW. I guess Derbyshire and S Yorks could do well again for some reason!

Happy St David's Day - first day of spring!

Never known so many hailstorms as this winter. Pretty from a distance but a pain when they are on top of you. My dog hates them.

Not as much as our horses

Hail shower in Buxton about half an hour ago turned the drive white for a few moments. More to come over the next few days according to the forecasts.

We've had around an hour and a half's worth of snow in North Lancashire, enough to stick and turn the fields white.

Suns out now though and blue skies

.. and in the sarf it's been all t-shirts and the first lawnmowers of spring. I swear that someone near be has a mower with an induction kit. Sounds bloody good (for about the first five minutes. ).

We saw "quite a lot" of snow today ooop un tut moors of the pennines, crazy blizzards for a couple of hours, several inches of wet snow in less than an hour.

We came across a gaggle of cyclists out on road bikes, not together all walking/falling over looking very cold in their lycra & obviously a few of them in dire trouble with a severe lack of adequate clothing. So we drove down to the town to their meeting point. In the end we passed the info onto Mountain Rescue as it turns out there were even more of them up on the hills & many in trouble.

This weather was forecast, road bikes on slicks, lycra is not warm - Muppets
