I have a 52plate 1.9tdi with the PD lump. A couple of days ago there was occasionally a engine rattle usually when above 2k revs. Today the rattle became more constant and louder. Reading other forums it seems to be down to injectors or can shaft?
One:is this likely to wreck the car a can't get it to garage as soon as I'd like and two: any ideas??

CAM. Don't drive it unless absolutely necessary. The tappets are probably all holed now, and gradually the top end will just disintegrate. Replenishing the top end isn't too expensive. Probably looking at best part of £300-£350 for cam, 8 tappets *updated oem ones with black top* 4 upper and lower shells + sundry one use bolts, etc. Labour around 4 to 5 hours I think. The good thing is the head doesn't need to come off and you may as well do a cambelt change whilst there.
