I was wondering if anyone had this problem? I have this noise coming from my gearbox, it's like there's something metal hitting another metal bit. Only does it when I'm rolling in neutral. Doesn't do it when in gear or stopped

That's an hard one to pin point over the net, perhaps try and record it if possible.

Are you sure it's the gearbox and not the diff

It's not loud enough to record it and don't think it'll be the diff because the noise goes away when driving. Just comes back as soon as I put it in neutral and the car is rolling. Thanks anyway. Thought it'd be worth asking coz someone might have had the same problem

Is it a rattle kind of noise? Clutch release bearing?

If I'm honest I was so pissed off about spending so much money that I blacked out for a bit haha but something to do with the teeth somewhere being worn so there is a lot of play in the prop

The splined tube on the front of the prop?

I've never seen that reported here before.

Indeed, who diag that?
Usually it's the donut or cvs, maybe even diff play..

If the prop teeth are screwed so will the output shaft surely..

The propshaft has splines midway and it's them that are worn and causing a lot of play! I'm willing to believe the splines are gone but I just don't think that's the cause of my rattle when coasting in neutral!
