A month of not drinking today for me smile
Lost a stone in the first couple of weeks but seem to have hit a plateau since then.

Blimey, you must have been drinking a lot to lose that much. Well done.

Not really, 2 or 3 pints of beer a day. I'm now on 2L of ginger beer now instead hehe

Day 17 for me. Sat in a Holiday Inn but little desire to drink even during my earlier curry.

Again, a bike ride this evening took my mind off the ale and I've just finished a hot chocolate and caramel cake bar. Or 3 biggrin

You're doing great Steve. To deny the temptation when you're in a hotel alone is fantastic, I'm not sure I could do that. But, so far no submission. My only problem now is getting off the dandelion and burdock!

You should be over any physical alcohol cravings by now. But you are both sugar addicted. Worth remembering that next time you think "I could murder a drink".

Keep it up. It starts to actually feel better after the first three weeks IME.

Nice one Steve. One thing I've noticed is recovery time between training sessions is noticeably shorter off the booze. I've made a conscience effort to limit it until after my last race, although having said that I've not really missed it.

Another weekend in. I have to endure a few days in Aberdeen this week without a bike to distract me. Wonder what's on at the cinema?

I have done this a few times. I find the best substitute is home made iced tea with no sugar.... With my arm engaged lifting the glass, my mind does not even realise I am not consuming alcohol!

Dry since 30th August...but then I'm in Saudi so no choice!

I may like a few at home but stopping & doing without is no great chore.

All goes to pot tomorrow though.....off to Bahrain.

I'm in Aberdeen at the moment! Might go to the cinema tonight.

I am offshore at the start of October for a week so will definitely extend my abstinence to my return - no choice but to be dry there!

If I include the wine or gin I would normally get my wife to drink whilst I chug my mugs (she's dry this month too), I reckon I've saved £240 so far this month. That's almost a set of Fulcrum Racing 3 wheels biggrin

I've now lost 1 and a half stone in total smile
Must have 'not spent' £200 or so. I have a bottle of Becks blue when I go to the pub (285ml costing £2.95). as opposed to a pint of lager at £4.
I was at the pub yesterday and my friends were very impressed by my weight loss smile I'm quite pleased too smile

How much were you drinking before to lose that much from just stopping the booze?

Not that much, about 2 or 3 pints a day.
I lost the first stone very quickly ( about 2 weeks) then plateaued for another 2 weeks - then I've dropped 1/2 stone in the last 2 weeks.
I'm also walking a few miles everyday (with the dogs).

Well that's 4 weekends dry - I'm into the final stretch!

However, I am going for a lap of honour and staying dry till after my offshore trip so I might have a beer the 2nd weekend in October. Or I might not biggrin

Wasn't that hard to do, was it?
I'm now 7 weeks in and getting a bit bored with ginger beer and ribena. The weight loss encourages me though smile

I wouldn't say it was easy - I am still looking forward to a few beers.

However, I am richer, weigh less and am sleeping better. And for these reasons, I will go on for a bit longer biggrin
