I am going to return home from my holidays in Italy. Is it worth to detour, make 200km more and visit the museum in Stuttgart?

Anyone of you that has visited that place has any tips for a new visitor?

Thanks!

No real tips, but it's worth a visit. The Mercedes museum is far better though.

I went last year and would recommend going. Its fairly small but had a great selection of road and racing cars. They also do factory tours, these are run during the week only and have to be booked in advance - the number was on the website and they were very helpful. You dont have to book it via a dealer like some others!

Do it its really good...there is the main dealer across the road from the museum that often has some great cars in it and loads of out buildings where you often see new cars being tested too.Agree on factory tour as well that only takes 1-2 hours and you go very close to the production line sometimes. I suppose I would say this being a Porsche fan over Merc but I found the Merc museum rather tedious..impressive building but apart from some very very old cars seemed a lot of gaudy 190e's on show when I went..Porsche rotate their cars at the museum every 2-3 months I am told. I really want to get into the place where they are stored when not on show. They are in a huge building in a fairly secret location in Stuttgart but probably impossible to get into.

Porsche Museum is a stunning place to visit .. not as many exhibits or as big as Mercedes museum, but beautifully laid out, and you can get very close to the cars

Do it.

One tip: work up an appetite and save some time to have a meal there. Very nice restaurant at the top of the museum.

Have a good time.

I stopped off on route last May and the museum was great. Both the wife (much to here amazement) and I enjoyed 3 hours there including some lunch. It's not expensive, parking is easy and the range of cars on display is fantastic.

Enjoy.

Make sure you get wired. The audio tour brings the exhibition to life. The coffee bar is very good and the ground floor restaurant is nothing special. The restaurant upstairs is great if you like that sort of thing.

I was there a few weeks ago, amazing place, they currently (think its still on) have the Le-Mans exhibition on so plenty of race cars old and new to see.

If what you're travelling in is over 2.1m i'm not sure where you park as we only just scrapped (Literally) in their car park in our old VW Camper...

I am going to be there this Sunday, too. If I see a guy dragging unhappy lady I will approach to say hello!
