I have had to donate my pioneer 42 inch LED tv to the wife for the main bedroom so I now have a poxy 22" lcd to game on which I can't handle.

I wouldnt mind a projector to put movies on and hook my PS3 PS4 upto.

Ive seen these micro LED ones on ebay for £40 but the brightness is too low and a lot of reviews say they are junk. there are other ones which seem to have better brightness and contrast ratios but it would be good to get opionions from those that use a £100-£150 projectors to see what they are like.

Im looking to spend around £100, not bothered about sound as it will be hooked up to surround sound.

I know £100 isn't going to get me a quality brand but its cheaper than buying a new tv of a tidy size at the moment.

Any recommendations, screen shots of picture qaulity and pointers would be greatfully recieved.

A fair few years back the cheapest ones worth going for were the hd700x then the hd600x which replaced it, or similar models. £200 used approx. The cheap ones from china were widely seen as truly awful. There was talk of new LED projectors from optoma which would use LEDs instead of bulbs that require replacement every few thousand hours.

I wouldnt waste your time unless you spend a couple hundred quid.

I had a Optoma HD67 a few years back which was a decent little 720p projector which coped with games well. In a light controlled room the machine did well, but obviously in a bright room the low spec of machine doesn't help it.

When new I paid like £400, I imagine you can pick up a used one nowaday for £200ish? Go have a look on eBay or something.

I wouldnt bother with anything unless its at least 720p with a HDMI connection - avoid these cheap £100 jobs.

Here is an image of my old one set up in my room.

Firing out a bit of toy story at 117inches. As the room was completely dark and the surrounding walls painted matt black the picture was very good for a cheap PJ.
However before the walls were painted black (room was completely white) the picture quality was as good and as bright, the only issue was the reflection of the picture onto the side walls which lit the entire room.
