Jenson on TG? Nah I've heard enough of him croaking about 'the balance' already.

Surely Jenson is making serious wedge from F1, can't see any TG contract comparing?

Yes, totally irrelevant, he'll do it solely for enjoyment. And I think he'd be great.

Agreed. A bit like his triathlons - no need to compete, but just for the fun of it.

Where has this Top Gear rumour originated from? Has he ever expressed any interest in that? It doesn't seem very likely to me.

Anyway, I thought Jason Potato would be a shoe in for that role now that he's no longer doing Fifth Gear, and he seemed very matey with Evans when he played the Stig in the TG segment in TFI Friday recently.

I would have thought he would want to focus on his F1 racing for as long as his career lasts surely? You can present TV at age/time but f1 is a young mans game these days.... the chance to race gets smaller as each year ticks by, he isn't going to do himself any favours if he doesn't appear to be 100% committed.

But what is the difference between this and other guys doing RoC - or Jenson doing triathlons? Or as a substitute for media appearances? I just don't see a huge time commitment?

I expect making a series of top gear would probably take a huge amount of time

Yeah, i did wonder if there was a new co-presenter link with him being there. But also worryingly the BBC F1 lady was also in the audience.

Plato is okay, but i'm not a fan of her.

However, evans is going to mix with a lot of well known car types, so any association can't be an automatic sign they are joining him on TG.

Top Gear only do about eight episodes at a time so all Jensons contributions would take about two weeks in total,if that.

There are all kinds of people here from all kinds of backgrounds how on earth do you know what every poster knows or how much of an idea they have?

I don't know but someone else might very well have an informed view. JB himself or someone connected to him, might very well be on here. hehe

It seems Jenson has been out playing in the JRM Mini World Rallycross car today, might be a career change if McLaren and the Topgear offer fall through, after all his Dad was a bit good at rallycross smile

Good day for filming a bit of RX at Lydden today. It's been raining all day which will make the course nice and slippery.

It was a film session for BBC and he was joined by David Coulthard.

I bought CAR Magazine Sept. 2015, the first issue I've bought for about 3 years.

Tom Clarkson has done a piece in there opining that if Kimi stays at Ferrari Jenson is out of F1.

Kimi staying at Ferrari means no Bottas at Maranello means no vacant seat at Williams and no money for releasing Bottas early to help pay for Jenson.

Doesn't surprise me quite honestly. Get rid of Alonso would be a fiscally more sensible option as he's way too expensive and will throw the toys out of the pram if Vandoorne proves to be a nuisance.

Button's only hope of staying with McLaren next year seems to be Kevin Manussen and Stoffel Vandoorne both deciding that it would be extremely bad for their future careers to be seen driving a complete pile of st.

Sadly though they will decide that a st F1 drive is better than no drive at all. I expect an Alonso/Vandoorne line up to be announced for 2016, with Kevin being farmed out to another team before being brought back in when Alonso decides he's had enough of racing with the Manor cars.
