The Roadster that I tried was merely the one that they available at that time and I wanted to check body roll etc. immediately after driving the Coupe.

My budget is a wide £30-45k depending upon age, mileage, spec etc. I'm always open to suggestions with regard individual cars, especially if their history is known.

I went from a Boxster S to a V8V roadster and now to a V8VSP10 Roadster. Well I guess the Boxster would always come out on top on a fast twisty B road as it's so well balanced but would I swap now...NO! The Aston is so much more in most departments. The S with the sports pack suspension is about as hard as the Boxster and is quite well balanced and easy to controller when things get interesting. The quality is much better and the styling...well no comparison really. The reaction from everyone, grannies to babes, and a few blokes.....is universally positive. I'm really really happy with the car and the whole Aston experience. Do IT!!!

I misunderstood your budget after you posted that 4.7 link hehe
On that basis I'd have a look at this 4.7 sport pack roadster (if you can get past the interior?)

Prices are still strong as we are apparently still in summer wink

Hi OP, what a good problem to have. We have a 4.7 Vantage Coupe and a new model Boxster PDK. In my view they are very different cars and difficult to compare. The Boxster is very quick point to point, I would describe it as clinical. Both Mrs Steve and myself love driving it. The Vantage is a different drive, heavier but in my opinion picks up speed much quicker - I certainly feel like that anyway. In addition a previous poster has said remember it is hand built so they have quirks associated with that approach.
However, they are reliable and a much nicer place to sit. The Boxster feels mass produced, the Vantage feels very special and the interior is excellent quality.
Public perception of the Vantage is great - attracts lots of looks and positive comments, the Boxster not at all.
Out of the 2 cars, as long as the destination is safe I will pick the Vantage to drive everytime.
Pick the right car and enjoy smile

I've had a manual 2.7 boxster and a 4.3 Vantage - now a V12 Vantage (I also had a 4.7 convertible for a few weeks)

As other have said, very different cars - with the Vantage it's not about outright speed, yes they are quick but not what I'd consider as insanely fast (the same can be said for the boxster) - as a result I think its more about the overall experience. For me a 4.3 offers as much as a 4.7 - I didn't think the extra torque of the 4.7 made that much difference (but then maybe I am using the V12 as a comparison) and therefore I'd probably look at saving some cash and going for a 4.3. As others have said the 4.3 sounds nicer.

The Aston is much more special and and I think the 4.3 suits the car - it's quick but lazy unless you thrash it and it becomes quite fast - but it never actually 'feels' as fast as it really is. When I bought my first 4.3 I was a bit concerned that it wouldn;t be fast enough as some of my previous cars were much faster - that said I was never unhappy with the 4.3 performance - I only changed to a V12 because it's such a different car altogether.

Buy with your heart - if you want an Aston I very much doubt you'll regret it - they are things of beauty and the whole experience means you'll quickly see past the raw performance.

I think I'm leaning towards a 4.3 Coupe.

I like the Roadsters a lot but they seems to trade at a £7-10k premium over the Coupe and while that may be a fair reflection of the premium when new (hands up, I haven’t researched that) I am merely upselling myself every time I look at the classifieds.

Coupes also seem to offer a lot more choice, which for the inpatient, is ideal.

Although reading that back I am reminded that I walked into the Prosche dealership to buy a Cayman S and came out with a Boxster S so I might be talking complete bcensoreds.

That is a legitimate concern. All things considered the Boxster is blessed with a lot of storage and I might struggle with a Roadster given that I intend this car to be more than a weekend toy.

Nowt wrong with the roadster for storage!
I'd say there's more than a boxster if you buy the right shape bags
We've lived out of ours for 18 days on last years Euro Tour

+1 Mikey. We are just off on a 14 day tour, including a black tie dinner and will get it all in. We get more in the roadster than we got in the DB9 or the Boxster. You are quite right that the key is the right shaped bags and non crease materials - Simples smile

There's not a lot in it. The Boxster has more if you have the right shape bags and use both front and rear 'boots'. Where the Aston scores is in the cabin. The Boxster has hardly anywhere for stuff whereas there's lots of space behind the seats, seat pockets etc. in the Aston. Is it that important? There's usually a way!!
