Can anyone please enlighten me on the differences between a 2003 Super V8 and the "R". I've always quite fancied an XJR but a nice looking Super V8 has become available locally and I am sorely tempted. I assume the engine is the same, and it has all the toys imaginable, but are there many under-the-skin differences?

Suspension. Super V8 is on Sovereign/Daimler softer set-up.

^^^ Correct. Wheelbase differentiates. LWB = Sv8.

Actually no, LWB was not available in 2003, so a 2003 SV8 is SWB.

I personally would go for the SV8, comes with many more toys as standard compared to the XJR, and suspension is softer, but still handles great.

To take the opposite view, you buy an XJR for the performance, albeit smoothly delivered. I had this very decision to make in 2006, at which point the SV8 was definitely an LWB. I decided that if you want XJR performance you go for the SWB XJR.

XJR Super - where have you been all my life? cloud9

This plus a BINI still to be delivered have replaced our Discovery, and wow, not a shade of regret. Amazing vehicle, which has been on my list for a while. Performance is subtly effective, and my first tank returned a heady 22mpg! I'm going to enjoy Jaguar ownership. smile

Congrats! BUT PLEASE CHANGE THE TYRES. P6000's are awful awful things. They don't deserve to be on a S/C'd Jag smile

They are almost due replacement, was thinking about T1-Rs, but only have experience of them on lighter cars. Any recommendations for the big Jag?
