Stop it, stop it now, go for long walks in the rain, clear your mind, whenever you feel the urge to think about a Nautilus think of a Spangle[ they look the same ].
NB: This is true and from the heart - If that watch was given to me under the premis that I could never sell/donate/swap it, but had to wear it. I would decline the offer and rather do without..
Just as well you're unlikely to ever be given one then! The thing is, yeti likes it so whether you do or don't is not likely to change his mind, don't you see?NB: This is true and from the heart - If that watch was given to me under the premis that I could never sell/donate/swap it, but had to wear it. Hi Yeti
Congratulations on your quest and its good to see you on your second step. I see myself on a similar journey ending up with a Harry Winston opus 11.
Now I just need to tell the wife I'm selling the house :-)
For anyone that hasn't seen the YouTube video take a look at how the opus 11 deconstructs time, the engineering is fantastic.

A lovely choice, although if it was my money I'd be going for the 5711/1A with the blue face, I like the simple uncluttered lines.
When I achieved my grail watch (SS Daytona), I thought that would be me done with watches but it wasn't long until I started looking again at others. Don't get me wrong, I've not fallen out of love with that watch and I will unlikely sell it, but my eyes are wandering to other pieces none the less. I'm not sure that if it was due to being my first luxury watch, or because I've also just 'got the itch', but I do enjoy the thrill of the chase.
My next stop is a PP 5120G as a dress watch, not any time soon, but I think that it's the one, possibly the 5711/1A after that...

Off topic-I regard myself as well to do (a well paid private dentist) and own two relatively nice watches a Rolex Airking and Omega Seamaster Auto bond type and could buy nearly any watch I wanted within reason. Ive retired both watches now although wont sell as have no reason to as a good investment. In fact I wore the Omega for almost 10 years.
My daily now is a Casio protrek . Both the mechanical watches lack all the nice features of a modern watch - large digital time so it makes it more memorable, day, date, 5 alarms(handy to eat mid morning /afternoon snacks, water etc or other things), stopwatch, compass, barometric pressure , rate of change of same on a graph (altimeter), auto tilt light, solar powered , world time, count up timer, sunrise sunset times for that day and longitude /lattitude), all very simple to use.
Im not being funny but mechanical watches are yesterdays invention and todays toys. And not terribly amusing as is reflected by the need to collect more and more. A good digital watch is tomorrows tool to get the job done imo. Still I can understand men need a passion to keep up their energy as that's what life is about.
Back on topic Patek are a nice watch but are just a fancy brand name, id have no problem buying used if I thought I wouldn't loose anything. No way Id buy new though.

Naturally
It is a style that divides opinions, no doubt about that! As I said, I wasn't bothered until i tried one on and saw how it was made. It's really a thing of wonder, IMHO of course
Agreed, I tried on a bi-metal Nautilus a few weeks ago and it really was something special. It oozed quality and felt perfect on the wrist. It is a style that divides opinions, no doubt about that! I tried several different Omegas, Chopards, Zeniths, Rolexes and this was another league altogether. Of course, so was the price, something like 55,000 euros I think, but still...utterly lovely. Sadly, wayyyy out of my league!
From what I have seen, there is no comparison between PP and some of the more mainstream brands...not that I have compared it with the likes of VC, AP etc, so this is based on limited experience.
Enjoy your watch Yeti
NB. It was a SS Nautilus that I really wanted to try, but the AD only had this watch in stock on the day.
Have watched this thread with interest......As many will know I recently purchased a Patek and it is truly a beautifully made time piece....... They are not everyone's cup of tea but I love mine........is it worth the same as a small family BMW.......probably not but who gives a st..........if you can afford one Lewis, crack on because you won't be happy till you own one.

If only I 'could afford one' Michael, this would all be so much simpler. Sometimes you just need to make something happen - being stuck in Cape Town with only a Breitling Aerospace for company is not helping with my sales quest though To the chap above who seems to be recommending a Casio instead of a Patek. Err, thanks. I think
That PP is lovely, I think I prefer the white face though, like this one:

Ponti is a great little shop - just off Rue de Rhone in Genéve. They've always got a whole bunch of interesting things in.

Like most things, it's the desire which is the fun part. Obtaining the unobtainable and in the case of the more sought after Pateks the Stern family play the game to perfection.
Yeti, I don't think you will ever be satisfied and will continue on your journey which is exactly how it should be. Enjoy your journey and i'm looking forward to see where your quest takes you.
