Can I just alert PHers who may be visiting the Revival that there is a potential traffic clash with the Tour of Britain which unfortunately visits the same area on the Saturday?

The main areas to be affected are the A286 north of Midhurst, the A272 from Midhurst to Billinghurst and then the A29 and A264 north of Billinghurst to Horsham.

The basic route of the Tour that day starts at Camberley but passes quite close to Guildford which might create traffic, and then crosses the A3 at Hindhead. It then joins the A286 south of Haslemere at around 10.54, then heads south through Fernhurst to Easebourne, north of Midhurst, at 11.05. It then turns east along the A272 to Petworth, arriving there at around 11.20, then heading for Wisborough Green for 11.33, heading north up the A29, arriving at Five Oaks for 11.44 and eleven minutes later at Horsham etc.

Roads are likely to be closed for between 15 minutes and half an hour in a rolling road closure system. However, major events are planned in some towns including Petworth, which is therefore best avoided unless you want to combine the Tour with your Revival.

Goodwood and the local police are well aware of the clash 'but police believe as the cycle race avoids peak Goodwood traffic times, it can be managed,' says my local paper. This is Goodwood's information on its site: http://grrc.goodwood.com/goodwood-revival/tour-bri...
Good luck to all!

This also impacts Friday, for anyone coming from Wiltshire/Berkshire direction. Its going through Devizes, Hungerford and onto Reading on the Friday I think.

To be fair it shouldn't affect anyone going to the revival because if your there after 9am you will be stuck in traffic and missing all the racing.

Just bouncing this back up to the top, but thought I would also point out that there was a fire in Petworth today which was at the start of the one-way bit going south. In theory, this should all be cleared up by now, but just another warning about the traffic and the Tour of Britain. And getting out of one of the car parks to the north at 7pm this evening was remarkable: perfectly OK all the way to just south of Midhurst, where we turned off home. Can't tell you any more!

There will be rolling road blocks during the race. Given the proposed route, as it stands, there's going to be a bit of an issue. Unless the bikes develop a VSTOL capability. I'm sure they'll work something out.
