Is there anyone with a sleeved chim near Hampshire?
Discussion
Hi All
Had my Chim a week or so now, and I have been debating getting the zorst sleeved.
I like the noise as it is, I just wouldn't mind it being a little louder.
Is there someone near Hampshire with a sleeved Chim (preferably a 4.5 like mine), that I could come and have a passenger ride in to see if it right for me?
Thanks
Anton

Not a million miles away from you will be the Neil Garner Open Day at the end of September. Details in the TVR Events forum.
There will be loads of cars there with lots of different exhaust combinations, might be an idea to go along and listen to some.
I plan to be there, and will have my straight through exhaust on ..... which is extremely loud
I would be worth thinking a little more about sleeving. Exhaust note is of course a personal thing!
Here's my experience of having tried these combos:
Sleeved silencer with cats - sounds good. Loud, nice under load. Plenty of pops and bangs. Can become tiresome on long journeys. Overcome with track day silencers.
Sleeved silencer with no cats - sounds very agricultural and very, very loud. Awesome under load from 3k, but any other driving a pain. Pops and bangs continuously. Awful on longer trips. Track day silencers don't even touch the sides.
Standard silencer with no cats - fairly loud, but more traditional deep V8 rumble, more bass, less top-end wet farting. A few pops bangs, lots of deep 'gurgling' sounds.
Standard silencer with cats - standard V8 sound. Sounds nice, no real pops and bangs, not too loud.
You can of course then add the ACT or Clive's Y pieces into the mix or even Cherrybombs.
I'm now decatted and have a standard back box. I actually prefer it as I don't feel like I'm attracting too much attention. Semi-sleeved may be good for a few more pops on the overrun, but for the moment, I'm fairly happy having returned to standard at the back.
All things being equal, you're likely to gain a few more horses by decatting, than you would sleeving. By all means do both, but the novelty is likely to wear off... especially if you have neighbours!
