Ok,

This is NOT a thread for people to argue the toss about whether or not Lewis was wholly or partly responsible for the events at Spa.

Given that Mercedes have publicly stated that Nico will be punished at that a slap on the wrist is not going to be enough - does anyone know when the sanction will be disclosed, or even if it will actually be disclosed or be kept within the team?

Some serious finger waving from Toto and Niki, followed by "the bird" from Nico.

I think that he is now in that mindset. His Merc future is secure, and so to the 2014 WDC.

What else would anyone seriously contemplate? A race suspension was the minimum requirement, but it ain't going to happen!

Might he lose (when in the position to receive) the priority on strategy calls?

A fine, and to explain himself to his paymasters.

I can't see it being a fine. I don't think that will have any impact on him.

I do wonder if they might give Lewis priority on pitstops for a race and/or prevent Nico from seeing Lewis' telemetry for setting up and quali..... Whether that be one race or two or three would be interesting.

They should give Lewis what he wants: individual strategists for the drivers rather than a team strategist.

Benching Nico for the next race is the only way to lay down the law and send a message. Anything else is a slap on the wrist. Admitting he could have got out of it shows he did not care for the team's interests but the team will be keen not to lose further constructor points so they need to be pragmatic about it while still sending a message.

I don't think Toto will care less that he mentioned in a post race interview that any punishment will be more than a slap on the wrist. That was said when emotions were still running high and he will now have had time to cool and think about what best serves the team and more importantly it's partners.

We may just see a statement saying lengthy discussions have been held with all concerned parties and as it's an internal team matter it will be kept internal as we would like to put it behind us and move forward. That may well suit the team's best interests and if that amounts to finger wagging and going no way to appeasing Lewis then tough st.

Hell will freeze over before we see Nico benched so I'm not sure what they'll do. Two tenths out of his aero for Monza?

They will re-enact that famous scene with Nico as Bishop Brennan and Lewis as Fr. Ted and Toto will play the part of Dougal, with camera yes

He will have to walk Lewis' dog on a lap around the track on every race morning for the rest of the season.

Now that would be funny.

BUT, I can't be the only one thinking Mercedes are going to do something and make sure we know they are doing something - I can't see them being happy with their image that Nico was booed and now possibly is happy to cheat (subject to what version of events you believe)?!?
