The turning point for me here was that race where Hamilton was stuck behind Schumacher's Mercedes~Benz with numerous failed attempts to pass. Then along comes Button in the "same" car and sails past both with ease. Ever since then for me it's mainly been as though a light has gone on somewhere in his brain and he has been far more effective and considered both on and off the tracks. Good to see.
absolute rubbish (as usual!)if you actually remember that race in detail, you will also remember Ross Brawn having to get on the radio to Michel and tell him to stop blocking (message from the FIA).
by the time Button was on the scene, the message had got though and Button was also on fresher tyres - but don't let the details get in the way.
Absolute rubbish back at you and you're running true to form "as usual". So back at you.
Yes, poor little Hamilton. Never been known to block faster drivers.
Always with the excuses! So Button had a superior strategy. You want it every which way. So I'll turn the tables ... always an excuse! Always ... as usual!
Whatever the punishment, it won't be anything that disadvantages either driver on the track or their ability to score points. DR is far closer in the WDC race than he should be at this point in the season, and Mercedes should be doing everything they can to secure both championships. At this time it is Nico that is closest to that goal, and if they jeodardise their chances by pandering to the fragile ego of the other driver then they will only have themselves to blame if Ricciardo somehow sneaks in and steals the ultimate prize from them.

Well said. That is level minded thinking. By the way, the likeable Aussie is 33-1 for the WDC. Not long ago he was 100-1 or higher.

I think the punishments reported by Sniff Petrol sound far more sensible.
- Must spend next calendar month referring to Lewis Hamilton as ‘Tron du Awesome’.
- Must swap Mercedes SL63 AMG for A180 diesel and is ‘forbidden’ from using the air-con even if he is ‘really sweaty’.
- Must agree to have official FIA entry name for Italian GP changed to ‘Nipple Cockberg’.
- Must undertake unpleasant new viral video task entitled ‘The Mice Bucket Challenge’.
- Must agree to eat one item made by each sponsor, even if they sell something that will taste awful such as Petronas or Monster.
- Must change ring tone to sound of Niki Lauda repeatedly shouting ‘BALLBAG’ through a trombone.
- Must give up ticket for forthcoming team away-day to World Of Owl.
- Must not to drive into team mate like a stupid tt.

They don't detail the punishment but NR accepts responsibilty.
They must continue to race hard and not hit each other for the remainder of the season.
I can't see NR sticking to that as/if and when his lead gets reduced..
Can you see Hamilton sticking to that? They must continue to race hard and not hit each other for the remainder of the season.

About time this thread was retitled "Get Rosberg" or closed.
Mercedes have decided and dealt with it ... internally. Now there's a turn up ... who knew?
I should imagine both Lauda and Wolf have had their cards marked for the future too!
Can we not get this idiot banned as he ruins every thread he gets involved in?Mercedes have decided and dealt with it ... internally. Now there's a turn up ... who knew?

This really has turned into a pathetic hysterical circus.
Fact is, had there been an element of proportional fault, the stewards would have been all over the perpetrator. They were not, "racing incident" , from those with the expertise.
Its sickening to me that tribalism has invaded F1 , the kind of tribalism we have seen for years on the footbal terraces , similar knuckle dragging mentality.
I've not been following this years racing like the past, owing to the extreme advantage that the Merc factory team has, being that it will be one or the other , but now I'm born again, lets see what RB can pull out the hat, they deserve a credit, against the childish posturing at Merc, a lot of it by senior management.

You've rather missed out in that case, chap; the racing this year has been superb. 007 VXR said:

Only press speculation, and all sorts of matters like comments being misconstrued, etc, etc. Fact is, the stewards saw fit to find no faults over actions, nowt to do with "he said" " she said" actually what happened, not tittle tattle.

You are probably right, its just decended into such a circus that it waxes enthusiasm , plus of course, as said the huge Merc advantage, having said that, as said, the RB challenge is enlightening things. I think this was the only possible outcome.
Nico made a mistake (either a driving error or a political error by suggesting he had to 'make a point')
Mercedes were never going to damage their title prospects and Nico holds lots of the cards with the lead he has in WDC. It was also a pretty minor error although a very silly one and it had drastic consequences.
I'd say for the team to go as far as making Nico appologise when he'd made it pretty clear he wasn't prepared to do so (after the race and standing in the lake) is about as much of a punishment as you could feasibly give in the circumstances. And fair play to Nico for swallowing it.
So, let's hope we get some good, hard, clean racing for the rest of the season - still 200 points up for grabs.
