Ive just returned to Perth after a holiday in England and I'm seriously thinking about returning permanently.
I know I'll expect a lot of "why" comments but TBH I've known for many years that my heart belongs in England, I really don't fit in here.

My brother moved back almost 20 years ago and currently lives in Frimley Green.

We stayed a few nights at the Ely Hotel on London Rd Camberley, which was reasonably handy to where he lives (and to Vixpy1's workshop FWIW, Gday again Charlie)

So I'll be looking for a rental or share house / room to rent in the area. Been looking on the web, I've seen a few that would do for a reasonable price (plus a few that I would love in the SAS area which are slightly out of my range )

Any agents or landlords on here that might have something? I've got to be sensible on budget as it might take a while to get work so my savings will cover me for a while.

Here's a couple of examples I found. I definitely prefer an ensuite or private bathroom, you get used to that here...

Greetings - this isn't the highest paced part of PH smile

I live just up the road from Frimley Green - I don't know any landlords personally, but zoopla, gumtree and some of the local property agents will be your best source of potentials. Depending on what you're going to do once over here, it's only 10 minutes to a mainline station straight into London (35-45 mins) or drive to Guildford / Woking (30 mins).

I've got family in Perth... are you mad? wink

I see you were also looking in the GU18 area

Could also try GU24, agai handy for the M3 and Brookwood or Woking station for London

Perth is a nice place to visit, but living here has a huge number of downsides.

It has really suffered (for most of us) from the insane money that is being 'earned' by the small % of FIFO workers. If you're not on $100K plus it's very hard to have a comfortable life. I believe it is ranked as one of the highest costs of living in the world.

I won't list all of my gripes, I've lived here most of my life and there are some good things, but if you like cars (isn't that why we're here?) it isn't good. Ridiculous prices, highest level of stamp duty in the country (my Monaro cost almost $4000 to transfer into my name) and the world's worst drivers.

The latter is reinforced by WAPOL who enforce draconian traffic laws, and ensure the brainwashing of the mindless majority that as long as you're going slower than the number on the board, nothing else matters.

This is what I noticed the most on my recent return from England. I got used to speed limits which were sensible (I'd often find myself driving below the limit especially on B roads) as opposed to here where I drive at a sensible speed only to realise I'm 20 over the limit.

The biggest one though is the rolling roadblocks, we don't teach or even encourage keeping left. Any 2 or more lane road, any time of day or night, there will be cars driving side by side for miles, below the (low) limit. Totally oblivious.

Sounds great, I'll PM you, although I've currently got my sensible hat on and I'm not going to rush into this like I was thinking a couple of weeks ago.

First thing I need to do is assess the employment situation. If I could get a job lined up I'd be booking my ticket (after I've sold most of my accumulated 'stuff'... which could take a while)

I've decided to have a clear out anyway, so that I don't need such a big house to myself just to fit it all in thumbup
