Ok, I'm doing my head in trying to decide on the best resort. Planning on leaving circa 7th September. I've been trawling for days now and I'm just getting more and more frustrated. I keep thinking I've found the right one, only to be dashed by flights, TripAdvisor reviews or location. We are a couple (40 something) who are used to luxury hotels and locations, usually in Greece and Italy but now looking for something a little different. Criteria is: must still be scorchio, 5 star, great swimming beaches (I love the Aegean for its clear, calm waters), great restaurants if "All Inclusive" and preferably a couples/adults only type resort as we don't do kids. A lot of these Dalaman resorts seem to be all about the kids with waterparks and slides. We like great service, quietish poolside reading and lovely views (doesn't everybody). We are not averse to self catering in a luxury villa, as long as there is a good choice of restaurants and bars nearby. Please help.

Kalkan in Turkey is a pretty nice more "grown up" resort.

Kalkan is a fantastic place to stay. We stayed at the Harpy (happy) hotel in a du lux room with a huge balcony and great views. It has a huge pool as well. Next doors is the Kalamar hotel which has a beach club. We used that a few times. These two hotels get top reviews and it's handy that they're next to each other. Both are quiet hotels and not aimed at the 'kids' market.

I'd go there again, definately.
