Just read some other stories relating to this particular individual - managed to play the race, disability and class card all in one fell swoop. Only surprised he didn't go for the clean sweep and bring in his sexual orientation as well.
And as for wearing ribbons from the St John Ambulance Service - bet he has his 10, 25 and 50 metre swimming badges sown into his Calvin Klines.

A very quick google search brings up some fun reading. I assume the court actually checked to make sure he is a lawyer?

Just to clarify: this is a judge telling a lawyer how to dress?
Now I'm no dedicated follower of fashion but I know who to ask if I want to check that I'm smart yet stylish, and that's not a judge.
I've seen them in their finery, parading along the road looking like demented parrots on LSD, and restrained is not the first word that springs to mind. Indeed, this judge used the word vulgarity in his criticism and I would suggest that out of the two, an embroidered badge on a black gown ain't even in the running.
Now this is a glass house:
Even the lackey is wearing white gloves.

I am not sure if the technical term for this bloke is fruitloop or wingnut.

Derek,
Did you have your boy scout badges embroidered on your uniform to impress the bad guys? Or just stick to the pointy hat
I suppose the ground I'm on is a bit dodgey here as I was in the City police and all our badges, button, stripes, letters and numbers were gold coloured. I also had a red and white duty band on my sleeve. But not vulgar I would suggest. I was never of high enough rank to have any embroidery. Not like Winsor for instance, with doilies on most extremities (probably all, as he seems the type to get a bit of wood when wearing a uniform). "doilies on most extremities". Reminds me of the new romanticsI do feel that if I were to be hauled up before a judge I'd prefer them to look judge like rather than greengrocer like. Gravitas, and all that.
