Evening all

Anyone know why my new iPhone 5S won't find my A8 car handsfree, but my iPhone 5 had no problems at all

Thanks

James

If you've recently changed phones and restored the contents of your old phone onto the new one it'll have half the equation about bluetooth setup and could be confused. Try deleting the bluetooth profile from both the phone and the car and start from fresh.

Thanks Adrian - I tried that, but still nothing. The phone isn't seeing the car at all

That's weird - did you delete the pairing details from car and phone? Unless it's something silly like the time to pair is set really low so it's not looking for devices in discoverable mode? You can configure that in the MMI

If you were nearer I'd offer to have a look - never had issues with iphones from 4S onwards with RNS-E or MMI

Thanks Adrian,

I believe the 5S using a different OS to the previous 5 ad I wondered if there might be a software compatibility issue I'll try them again today

cheers

Delete all bluetooth profiles from the car, restore factory settings then turn the car off and take the key out. Get out, lock the car.

Then get back in, start the car and do a bluetooth search from the phone and NOT the car.

This usually sorts it smile

Still no joy try an MMI reset (loads of videos on Youtube).

Thanks Alex - you are a helpful chap. I have tried the MMI reset, but I'm going to run it all again now having left the car overnight. Unscientific as this may be, it often seems to be the answer.

What age is the car, as it could be an MMI firmware age issue? Try DrG's suggestion but if no luck with that i's possible to update the firmware. I have the discs for a D3 but would need to check how old they are now!

Bluetooth does need to be paired within 3 minutes of turning the ignition on IIRC, may have been that.
