Good luck. Ps I'd delete the pic and be very subtle and discreet and I wouldn't post about where you work online, it's not really the done thing and the owner probably wouldn't want discussions online etc.

Heh! You had to think twice before deciding to join the crew on that??

You made the right choice.

Enjoy.

Brilliant news!

Any chance of a few pics of the new 'office'?
I've got some but not really sure on the etiquette of sharing them just yet... i'll see how the other lads here behave before uploading any! Here's a pic from google though;

M/Y Azzam, 180m and the biggest superyacht in the world.

Do they need any engineers? I could do with a change from the North Sea and smelly oil rigs. hehe
A new 1st engineer is joining in a few days and we'll be fully crewed up then, deck and tech at least! Retention seems to be good and most of the lads have came from other yachts - i seem to be a rare exception!

Speak to viking recruitment and get on linkedin though, they are always looking for engineers for yachts.
Wow well done lad. How did you manage to get a gig on the biggest superyacht in the world though!? Was it just fluke or did you have an 'in'?

Thats not a Yacht, its a Ship!

As a matter of interest where would you start looking in a career on a Yacht? I'm an ex RN Engineer, but have moved in to IT as a Civilian. I've been thinking of a career change back to engineering but it would need to be for an unusual/interesting role.

For a boat that size it's generally proper ETOs only, so you'd have to do a cadetship, but if you have a relevant degree that might be fairly short with exemptions for some areas. On smaller yachts there seems a lot more leeway, they are often happy to employ people in ETO or engineer roles without formal qualifications as long as they're good at the job(and their face fits).
