Hi all,

I've been looking at some GT3's recently at OPC's, but the one thing I've been surprised at is the amount of stone chips to the cars even with less 15K miles.

The lower front valance, front wheel arch, rear wheel arch and headlights were all substantially peppered, my other cars like Focus RS / M3 with > 35K miles are far less damaged.

Can anyone comment?

Silverstone told me they spray the nose and front wings of all retail cars to remove stone chips. Have the cars you've seen not been prepared for sale, or does practice differ between opcs I wonder?

Perhaps these cars have been driven as the good doctor intended and are not garage queens? wink

I have a heap of Ventureshield on mine and you can see where it has taken a hammering on the sills in front of the rear wheels. Also my rear wheels have quite a few chips on them too.

In my experience you have two choices; live with the stone chips or live with mismatched paint. I prefer the former.

Mismatched paint nowadays shouldn't be an issue. If it is then the bodyshop aren't very good...

I've noticed lots of shoddy work on opc approved cars. I'm a bit ocd so general rule of thumb for me is to avoid cars in which have seen paint.

Whats going on with all the talk on the 991 GT3's wheels getting stone chips. Seem to be quoted quite a bit, is it a quality issue with these lovely wheels, or, 4 wheel steering collecting more debris on the rears at speed on and in a corner, sounds strange.

No link, it just pops up with the guys that have them stating about the wheels getting chipped,, and the bodywork is mentioned. Trying to decide on getting a bra fitted on mine before pick up, Paintshield seems to get the thumbs up.

Andreas Preuninger said that this car was designed to attract a wider audience. I guess he has succeeded..

Bit narrow minded, MTR. I've had the front of my 996GT3 covered in PaintShield. Does that automatically make me a Kings Road poser?

Narrow minded? Possibly. But theres a bit of a difference between PS and a bra. They are truly horrible and look ridiculous.

In the USA they call paint shield( other films are available) a bra

In the uk people do fit bra's to cars which clip on and off.

So depends what country you are in regarding the bra word.

Ah ok, it maybe a language misunderstanding then, like fanny? This is a bra...
