Hi,

I have a 330d with the m sport plus pack which includes big brakes. Does anyone know if 18 inch wheel will fit? I want to get a set of winters but don't really want 19's

Thanks

It doesn't look like it on the front but I think they might but it looks awful tight I can't even get my wheel brush fully in between them, your dealer will know. (or should do!)

I'm just going to swap the tyres and keep the 19" on (I have the BBK as well) when I change to winters.

I was wondering hts myself. Not sure how good winter tyres will be on 19's. I would prefer to run 2 sets wheels also, swapping tyres twice yearly is money down the drain.

I debated this recently myself - I couldn't get a straight answer but as mentioned it is real tight with the 19s so I bought another set of 19s on eBay. A couple of wheels had been kerbed so I have earmarked that set for winter with a view to powder coat them next spring.

Remember if you have the pressure sensor valves you will need another set of those - another £100+

Yes 18" are the smallest wheel that fits.

Get yourself a set of 400M, that's what I did.

Unless BMW have changed their system, you only need standard valves.
The tyre pressure system monitors the rolling circumference of the tyre, not it's internal pressure.

No, the latest cars have fancy valves that relay the exact pressure to the car. But earlier F31s may be as you say.

Yeah, but I guess the painted 18s would be preferable for winter conditions over the polished 19s.

I'm sure they'd be fine it's a 3 series not a classic Ferrari after all, but each to his own.

Interesting. Thanks for that. Seems a shame as the old system seemed simple, reliable and cheap at tyre change time!

Hurumph.

So, mixed views so far. Bmw them selves were not much help....

What happens if the winter wheels do not have tyre pressure monitors? Does the car show an error on the screen or does the system just not display the pressures?

Hi matt, is this from personal experience with the big brake setup. I measured the gap between the calliper and the current wheels and there is only approx 6mm....

A BMW dealer will confirm that 18" wheels will fit over the bigger discs. I only bought my F30 335d this spring so haven't yet put the winters on, but my local BMW dealer are supplying me with a set of 400M style 18" wheels. Quite a few others have done the same last winter.

According to the BMW online configurator you can spec the upgraded brakes without having to opt for the 19" wheels; therefore, in my simple mind that means the M-Sport Plus Brakes are compatible with the standard 18" wheels....

It looks like 18's will fit then. I wonder if there is a standard internal diameter for 18" wheels? Or if i need to check the specific wheel inside dia.
