Starting trouble

Hello wise and Noble forum.

Went to take the car out this morning to find it refusing the start. Engine turns but there is no fire and no fuel smell ton suggest any is getting through. When I turn/off the ignition I can hear a click but no sound from the fuel pump priming. Any suggestions please. I have checked the main fuses so far.

Relay on the bulk head. There will be 4 above the battery to the right of the front turbo. If you are looking at the relay block from the back of the car the second relay from the right is the fuel pump. Good to take them all out one by one and check they are working as the often get rusty. Failing that it may be the pump itself.

Reading it again. The click may be the relay but also it may be any of the other relays back there like the a/c relay which is also located on the bulkhead, so still check them. You can get to the pump by taking the plastic cover off the passenger side wheel arch. Pop a multi meter across the pump and ask someone to turn on the ignition. If you have power it will be the pump. If no power you may have a problem with the relay block itself or associated wiring. The pump is fairly easy to change over there are also useful threads on hear about how to conduct the wiring mod for the Bosch 044 too.

I had the same issue recently which was fixed by a new relay and 15A fuse in the engine bay.

Looks like the fuel pump fuse has burnt out and has been going for a while! Put a 20A back in as that's what was there; should it be a 15A?

Very dirty behind the wheel arch cover so not surprised the fuse went. The car started first time after changing. Also did a lot of cleaning :
