Hi,

Was thinking of buying a C6 from mainland Europe and bringing back to blighty.
Do you need to change anything to import to uk permanently?

I think it is only the headlamps, which will otherwise dip the wrong way. And you will need a Certificate of Conformity from the dealer who originally supplied the car to confirm to DVLA that it's a genuine Euro spec model.

I'm led to believe UK spec headlamps are expensive and awkward to find. However, it is said that US spec headlamps will pass the UK requirement. US lamps dip straight down rather than dip to one side.

Someone who's actually done the conversion could probably be able to give you a more solid answer.

Any idea why European cars seem to work out £5-8k less than uk dealers?

Bought a Euro mainland spec car myself 2 years ago that had been in the UK for 3 years with 3 MOTs. Surprisingly, when I had it checked before buying, it still had the Euro (right dipping) lights on it. Got them changed, but before that, my MOT guy tested the beam pattern with original lights. He said he would pass it with those lights as a "kickback to the left" on dipped beam was no longer required to pass the MOT. Dont know if that has changed since then?

If a prospective car doesn't have a COC as part of the paperwork, Bauer-Millett I believe can supply one (at a cost). Last time I looked, Euro mainland dealer cars weren't £5-8k cheaper than UK dealer cars (?)

The same spec/age cars for sale at Bauer, 1@£28k, 1@£33k are available across Europe from €23-€30k
