Need to replace the front brakes (discs/pads) on my Z4M Convertible, is STD the best way forward? I wondered what if any alternatives people have used?
Thank you.

Are the discs floating on the Z4M? If so I would keep them OEM.

Pads are down to you, if you are happy with the OEM pads, a simple replacement should do the trick?

I kept with standard discs as they are fully floating and quite good as discs go, so unless a bigger rotor is needed the cost of changing is not worth it, and even then I would question why some people do this.

Standard callipers are good to be honest, but they do need regular cleaning, the near side front can seize up. The often quoted overheating brakes is really only even an issue on track, and again only at extremes like a full day with traction switched on so that the brakes get over used.

Pads will be a personal choice, many cite the pagid RS series, others carbon larain etc.... I chose Mintex 1155, but these did squeal, Perhaps the 1144's would be better if doing just road work. EBC have both good and bad reviews, I personally have never got on well with them where as Mintex I really like.....personal.

Good upgrades to consider are braided steel flexi lines to help firm the peddle and feel, and depending on mileage and intended use a calliper service and rebuild. Also a really good fluid, I used a racing fluid in mine and this with flexi hoses, Mintex pads and std callipers and discs was fine for track and road use.

i used euro car parts, as they often have discount codes, some as much asup to 50% off. I calld them and negotiated a price on all 4 discs.

Std discs are good even for track. For road use Std pads are generally ok, if you are going on track you need to change the pads for something like EBC yellow stuff, ferodo 2500, etc.
