Morning all…

Following the success of the PH Whisky Casks started by our very own Lefty, I’ve done some digging and have managed to organise a tutored whisky tasting of single malts over 18 years old. The idea is to have a relaxed evening, drinking and chatting whisky with an expert – and a bit of a laugh with like-minded PHers.

So…

The detailsbiggrin
  • There is a maximum of 20 places in total (8 currently available)
  • The cost is £70 per person
  • The tasting is based in London
  • Thursday 30 October 2014
  • It starts at 19:30 and typically lasts for around 90 minutes, but they’ll stop a bit longer if you’re really keen to chat

What do I get?
  • An expert to guide you through what you’re sampling
  • 6 drams of single malty whisky aged over 18yo (we’re trying very hard to get something that very few people will have tried)
  • The chance to meet the people you’ve been chatting with for years on PH about whisky!
  • Hopefully learn something and have a good laugh at the same time
  • The opportunity to part with more money to buy whisky (bottles, or pour your own from the cask)
  • Perhaps a bit squiffy… silly

OK, I’m in - how do I sign up?
  • Send me a PM via PH (preferably with the subject heading “Whisky tasting”) with your real name, so I can contact you!
  • I will reply with bank details in the next few weeks, and you can transfer the money (I don’t do PayPal, sorry)
  • In the event it is more popular than expected, it will be a first come, first served basis. I will maintain a “waitlist” in case someone drops out
  • All bookings and payment MUST be completed to me by Sunday 26 October
  • Your place is not confirmed until you have paid!
  • Wait impatiently until 30 October…

Please note I have to pay for the entire booking in advance. This means that there is no option for a refund. However, if you cannot make it we may be able to find someone to take your place and get a refund that way.

We have our minimum of 6 confirmed, so the evening will go ahead. biggrin

It'd be good to get 15, as the quality of the whisky we can sample improves biggrin

Where is it? I can't usually do weekday evenings, but if it's close enough to Waterloo, might be able to.

It's at the TWE (The Whisky Exchange) shop at Vinopolis.

Nearest tube is London Bridge - 2 stops away from Waterloo on the Jubilee line smile

Tbh, that's what I thought too - hotel In London Thursday and Friday night, early supper (or the vinopolis wine tour) and whisky on Thursday, then dinner and a show on Friday. Job done.

They don't offer it. I did ask, but even paying extra was an option.

Update: The reason they don't offer Friday,Saturday or Sunday is that they have to close the shop to do the tastings. It's likely that they'll make more money from general sales on thise days than they would from a tasting - hence they are not offered.

There is an option to do tastings away from the shop, but then you have to add venue hire and travel costs - which would more than double the price.
