Hi all,
Insurance seems to have gone a bit odd for me recently. I used to get the best quotes from specialists like Adrian Flux or Classicline but for the last year, Admiral has been the cheapest. They have just given a really competitive renewal price, which is at least £100 less than the specialists that I have tried but one thing concerns me: they won't let you select where your car goes for repair if it is damaged, except if it is a non-fault claim and the other insurer accepts it going to a TVR garage.

Anyone found any other insurers sympathetic to TVRs / classic cars that would let the car go to a specialist garage that know what they are doing ?

I have tried Adrian Flux and Classicline

Thanks, Matt

As far as im aware you have the right to decide where your car is repaired. However if you decide to pick an expensive quote they have the right to write it off insted.

My policy document states:
If you do not wish to use our Approved Repairers we cannot provide you with a courtesy car, and
you will need to get two estimates from repairers. If we think the repair estimate is unreasonable, we may arrange for your car to be moved to another repairer. We may move your car to a safe place, before repair or disposal.

This sounds a bit of a pain as presumably you would need to transport the damaged car to two different garages somehow to obtain the quotes and then they may "move to another repairer" anyhow.

I have to say I am very impressed with the price, very very competitive and they knocked off an extra £30 without me even having to ask really. I rang to enquire about the policy terms and was asked "so you're ringing up to see if we can reduce the price then ?", "err.....yes..."
But the Approved repairer issue gives me some concern.

Anyone suggest some other insurers that are known to arrange repairs at TVR garages?
