Why do so many cars end up at an auction when they could be sold private ?

I guess if you're looking to use it as a base to start upgrading it, it's not too bad. I think that, at that price, I would have to assume there are issues that need addressing.

I was going to look at this but the dealer showed zero interest in my enquiries and the auction viewings were on Friday afternoon next to Heathrow. I would have died of old age long before the traffic cleared so didn't bother. Anyone know how high the bidding went? It was on the dealers website for £18k so I guess the reserve was around there.

I like that colour combo too. As to the reserve my understanding was that in an auction the low end of the estimate must be higher than the reserve so the max bid would have been under 14k.
