But,,,,,
have you seen what £44k buys you in full fat Range Rovers! 2010 or newer, 4.4 TDV8, loads more car!
but there currently depreciating like a stone! and have a long way to go until they level out!
how long will it be until the new shape FFRR comes into my price range?
£40k L322 FFRR's are currently depreciating at about £5k-6k pa or around £500 pm. New FFRR's are depreciating at around £1k pm. I'm hoping a new well spec'd DS will depreciate at around £400 pm over 3 years. It will be a while before new FFRR's come down to that level. have you seen what £44k buys you in full fat Range Rovers! 2010 or newer, 4.4 TDV8, loads more car!

I have an order in for a March/April '15 DS HSE. Fingers crossed LR can screw them together properly from the outset. My trusty FL2 will 5 years old by then & good time to change it. Hopefully as the SD4 2.2 is pretty much bullet proof & the chassis/ terrain response has been on the Evoque/new RR's for a bit any issues will be ironed out.
Went to see one on display in Brum & thought it was a very nice car. Third row required in first batch of cars loses the factory fit towbar :-( , but there was plenty of room back their for kids up to 10/11 I recon. The 2nd row had sliding seats so some thought has gone into the package. Some of the interior trim was a bit plasticky IMHO (HSE Lux on display), but overall build looked good.

Still not sure whether to plumb for one of these or not. If I did it would be a straight HSE auto in metallic, quite like the green tinge of the display car below, it's a lot of money for a medium car call it £40k. The HSE lux is stretching the price boundary too far, although all display cars to date are in that trim. Was that March/April build date very recent?
The only saving grace would be depreciation like the Evoque, not so sure it'll achieve that though. I suppose it's all a bit too beige. Hmmm what to do.

We have an order for a HSE Auto in Firenze Red with the Black Pack for my wife who is swapping a white Evoque. The DS is due around 1st March 2015.
Here are some photo's from the Paris launch of the one in Phoenix Orange with the Black Pack. Have to say that I think the Black Pack improves the look considerably.

Just seen one in white, driving round the museum of london roundabout over and over again. The shape grew on me. Initially thought it looked a little tall and thin and quite Japanese styling. But after 5 laps I liked it. Suspension looked very bouncy though.... But it's not currently a car I could get excited about buying.
Just put the same DS spec I have an order for in to the online bullder and its £1,000 more than I am paying. This suggests that the DS is going to be popular and bodes well for depreciation rates. If I want, by the time the new engine comes out I'll probably be able to swap with little depreciation and just pay the new increased price for the same spec with the new engine.
I've noticed that these constant price increases are a feature of LR now. When the new FFRR first came out my ideal spec came in at £85k, a couple of years on and the same spec is now £5k more. That's one way of softening the depreciation curve I suppose.
So if you think the DS is expensive now them just wait a couple of years........

Not sure how you connect the apparent increase with low depreciation though....only time will tell on that front, I still think it's too beige to have the desirability and hence residuals seen for the Evoque. My stumbling block is is it Still seems a hell of a lot for a FL2 in a frock?!!
LR are going to make thousands of them. If they are reliable, durable & comfortable, they will be favourable in terms of cost if ownership. Is it a FL2 in a frock? Yes & no. It is a much updated vehicle, built on the bedrock of the FL2 & Evoque. If it ain't broke......
Is it as radical/desireable as the new Rangie Sport, no. But funnily enough, the reason we are getting one, is that it is more utilitarian, so I don't need to be so precious with it, like I do with my new Macan, which stays at home more times than our FL2.....

The link with depreciation is that as new car prices rise, used cars prices hold firmer than they would if the new car price was static over several years. That's the effect the FFRR price rises over the past 2 years have had on used prices.
I'll compare my order with the builder tomorrow and come back on where the price rise has taken place.

Indeed. I got £28k from LR for a three year old Evoque with 36k on the clock (that cost £37k). Can't see a Disco keeping that money?Gassing Station | Land Rover | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
