Looking for a really nice place to eat for lunch in a few weeks with some friends from the states, staying at Ellenborough Park. Looking for something really delicious. Any recommendations?

That was the one I was going to say when I saw the thread title. Only 2 Michelin star restaurant in Cheltenham.

If you fancy going a little further afield there are some nice ones out in the Cotswolds.

Purse lane is good if you like seafood. I'm not really a fan of the atmosphere in the champion sausage although people seem to rave about the food..

Good hotel choice. They are booked in advance for the next five years during festival week!

I agree that the atmosphere in the Champignon Sauvage is a bit lacking but the food is so good that I'd still be happy to pay to eat it in a prison cell.

Golden Heart pub at Birdlip is a bit out of the way but often has interesting stuff on the menu. Not been to 'nam in a while so bit out of touch about what's in town.

The wheatsheaf Northleach or the Bell at saperton are probably the nicest I've been to. It might depend on whether your guests want to go to a "pretty Cotswold village" or just somewhere on it's own which does good food.

For the gastro pub you could try the Butcher's Arms at Eldersfield. It's a little bit of a drive but is a lovely traditional country pub that also has a michelin star.

Try the Royal Oak at Prestbury end of town:

Very popular eatery and old school pub too. Just around the corner from me too!

Russells in Broadway, or the Dormy House. If you are feeling wealthy the Buckland Manor is also nice

Golden Hart was disappointing on saturday.

Jamies Italian in Cheltenham does very nice food and is good value, as is CoCo's bistro on Cambray Place

Green Dragon at Cowley is probably the best pub in the area for decent food and an English pub atmosphere
