Hello everyone. I've been browsing Pistonheads for years, just never posted on here.

I immigrated to the U.S. a number of years ago, currently deployed to Afghanistan.

So a few weeks ago I found the exact mustang I want, used but at a significantly lower price. Over a third off the price of a new one, so a 2013 gt track pack it is.

My wife flew to Dallas Texas and drove the mustang back. It now sits in my garage patiently for me as I am going insane thinking about driving it.

I will post on this thread as I gradually build up the mustang but won't be spending serious money on it just yet.

Pictures to follow.

Slightly off topic but are you in afghanistan as an embassy guard or advising? i never realised you could emigrate and then join the us army! How did you get your green card?

I was originally a green card holder and naturalized through the U.S. Army. I hold dual citizenship, my wife is American.

You can be pretty much any nationality and join as long as you have a green card and meet the requirements. I originally came to the U.S. to finish my batchelors degree. I then met a wonderful best friend, lover and companion who I married. That made be eligible for the green card.

You don't have to naturalize to serve in the U.S. Army. It was my choice and it is fast to do than as a civillian. However I never joined for that reason. Since I was a kid I always wanted to be in the US Army. And now I am dreaming of donner kebabs.

Btw the whole green card process is a total nightmare. My wife and I went through hell, I can only imagine it is much worse now.

Nice car.

Grabber blue looks great in the US where it was formulated for but is the kiss of death over here. I always liked it.

Shame it's so difficult to match and ended up getting dropped.

I had no idea the color was had to mix. Pictures do not do the color any justice it looks stunning in person and many cameras cannot replicate the actual shade, similar to zinc yellow.

Americanmuscle.com sell prepainted parts and have not heard anything in particular about grabber blue. In a few months I will purchase a GT500 spoiler from there. Hopefully the color matches.

Nice, I'm currently "living" in the US with the option to stick it out on an investment visa and I do enjoy the different scene in cars.

I've driven a poverty spec 2012 mustang which was TERRIBLE and a 2014 Camaro RS which was actually a really nice driving experience. Get a lot of car for your money it seems with new US Muscle, fully specced Corvettes at $70k for example.

Enjoy!

I'm also a UK expat living in the US for the past 14 years - naturalizing next Feb.
First, THANK YOU for your service - be safe, stay safe and get home safe.

I have a 2012 Mustang GT that I've added a few light mods to - mostly courtesy of www.americanmuscle.com - a great resource.
I would thoroughly recommend a Bama Performance SCT flash tuner to really wake up your five-oh - I was really surprised at the changes it made in throttle response and higher rev performance - mine's an auto and it's really improved transmission performance too. I added an Airaid 'Race' intake - which is needed if you go beyond 'street' tune.
To be frank, the 'race' mode in this tuner is a little too aggressive for everyday use, in my opinion.
I also have a Zoomer cat-back exhaust, which is a little pricier than the Corsa/Borla/Magnaflow alternatives, but is just perfect if you want the grunt, but don't want toe sound like an airplane.

Nice car - enjoy it!

Hi Matt I appreciate your words. It means a lot to me. I think a lot of people have forgot there is still a war.

Please post a pic of your stang. Im on the wall about the bama tune. I've heard good and bad things. I don't know whether im going to do the na route or supercharge it. Exterior and interior are my first priorities. As I mentioned I want to keep it looking as factory styled as possible

There are far too many mustangs that have been made to look like crap.
