Thank you. I drove all night to go home for thanksgiving. A c6 vette drove past reminded me of you post.

Currently at my cabin, i'm thinking of riding my buell back to save miles on the mustang.

It's not exactly riding season and I dont have to drive much at work each day as I car pool. I'd do a lot more travelling and exploring if I had my bike there at work.

I recently read that researchers believed they found ceramic artifects from that missing colony. I met they were killed off by the natives.
Cool bike. And autumn sounds perfect for bolting to the cabin.

The clever things about Buell always make for a great story. Storing fuel in the bike's frame. Reverse-mounted caliper (allowing a lighter brake setup). Various solutions for less mass and lower unsprung weight.

I reckon you're right about the colony.

The appalachians are very nice this time of the year, the fall is my favorite season. Spent the weekend sanding and painting my garage door and surrounds, got done 11pm and then dropped the buells engine and trans oil. Ill probably take the buell after Christmas, I need to adjust the primary chain tensioner, replace the front pads and speed sensor.

The buell has been a good bike but it had the wrong engine from the start. My complaints are that is has a heavy clutch, limited size fuell capacity, doesn't like to go slow which is not good for adventuring and has too much wind blast.

Here are some pics my friend took back in Colorado, such a really nice place.

Great photos of Colorado. A region not just for skiing or snow boarding, mind. The big outdoors in all its forms. (as you already know)

I'll trade your shots of the Centennial State for this photo of Manhattan two weeks ago. The solidarity expressed by Le Tricolore atop the Empire State Building requires no explanation.

Are you currently residing in the states now?

For December i'm thinking about covering some of the plain interior plastics with 3m carbon fibre wrap like davefgf's corolla tsport. Hopefully it won't look tacky in 10 years.

Yes, and I'm on the road a lot, in the Northeast states.

Your car is an inspiring project. This is one of the fun things about US performance cars -- the culture of affordable performance mods / personalization.

On a related note: I like how the 6th generation Mustang is being produced in RHD. This is, of course, not about profit (as the marginal contribution by RHD markets will be tiny).

It is, however, a huge boost to the Mustang brand. Mustang is a narrative already half a century old. And this narrative will be enriched by the involvement of owners in RHD markets.

What mpg do you get in your c6 when driven conservatively at 65mph on the highway? There's numerous vids on youtube of owners getting around 30-40mpg on non z06 c6's, how accurate are these?

Filled up yesterday, cheapest gas I've seen since December 2008 which was $1.45 per gallon.

I wonder how the new mustang will be received now its's rhd. It will be a strange sight for sure. Hopefully owners will realize Clarkson was talking bks all these years.

Speaking of rhd, I found a 300c srt8 in the classified for sale in rhd, I had no idea they were officially imported to the UK.

Spotted this Roush stage 3. Looks much better stock but not worth the money imo. Much cheaper to do it yourself and use the same exterior body parts. I don't know why the uk mustangs do not get hood vents but get the ugly faux gas cap decklid. That would be the first thing to get swapped with a used pony v6/ecoboost decklid panel.

You're right about fuel costs. We're almost at the historic low point seen in 1998 (on an equalized, inflation-adjusted basis). See last chart on this page.

Yes, at 70mph in sixth gear, my 6-liter V8 turns 1500rpm. And I see 32 miles per US gallon on flat terrain. That's 38mpg UK. With 400 lb-ft on tap!

I recently took the following photo in the state of New Jersey. For others reading this post, I hasten to add:

a) The 93 octane rating seen in this photo is equivalent to 98 octane in the UK (the Americans calculate octane using a different method), and

b) The price per US gallon (for this high-octane premium fuel) is equivalent to 40p / litre.

Agreed. A fine car on its own. But it's moot now that Ford offer such a great Mustang GT and spectacular Mustang GT 350 straight from the factory.

If anybody wants anything apart from the OEM products, it pays, as you say, to go DIY or with a reputable local shop that specializes in performance upgrades.

Recently went to D.C. for the weekend, it is the last time I will go to a gun free city. I don't like large population centers as it is, liberal douche bags, no parking, speed cameras and overpriced food. No thanks but I would not trade mountain living for city life. I wanted to visit the tomb of the unknown soldier and the Smithsonian Museum of Art. Here are some pictures.

Today I found a first gen Chrysler 300C SRT8 for sale. I've always liked the menacing look of these. Took it for a test drive, for the short time that I drove it, it reminded me of a Rover SD1, seats were very comfortable but not supportive. The dash plastics were semi soft, the main issue I had is the aesthetic design of the dashboard. Road noise was very quiet and it did not feel too big of a car. It just wasn't me, I love the theatre and drama of the mustang v8.

Spotted this e30 m3 round the back.

I then went to a local dodge dealer and found a used 2nd gen 300c srt8. These are much, much nicer inside, much more sportier and sexy. I'm going to test drive it tomorrow if I get the time. These can be found for 25k used.

Rear tires are 245, way too narrow for the 6.4 hemi.

Then wandered over to Chevy and rubbed the alcantara in this Chevy SS. It is far to mature looking, chevy would have sold a ton of these if they hadn't restyled the commodore ss.

In the background: The Lincoln Memorial.

A classic for both the occasional visitor and the long-time resident of America's capital.

Lincoln took tremendous risks in prosecuting the Civil War. The US today could be multiple countries if not for his fortitude. Balkanization anybody?

It has some retro accents, doesn't it. Cinematic, but without being twee.

I think you're right. Chevrolet should have maintained the design more or less as the Australians had conceived it.

Also... some more aggressive pricing, here in the US, would not have been unhelpful. Some FX problems perhaps.

Given your recent trip to Washington, DC... you will not be a stranger to that seemingly endless ribbon of asphalt and concrete called Interstate 95.

I recently replaced the OEM Corvette tires (Y-rated to 300km/h / 186mph) with all-season tires of a lower rating. Something like "only" 150mph or so.

But the difference in the wet and cold is extraordinary. Grip galore. Zoooom!

President Lincoln was constructed from pure white "yule" marble from mines in Colorado funded by the Rockerfellas.

Yes I-95 was nasty interstate, I stayed at the posted speed limits the whole way there. Got in to D.C. gunned it through a tunnel for the sound, as soon as I exited I saw the flash in my rear view. That was the first static speed camera I have seen in America.

I envy your head up display, the SS's hud was very clear. There are used 2014 SS's on autotrader from $32k upwards. I'd rather have a pontiac g8 gxp, though the gxp's seem to be holding their value well.

After the new year I'm going to travel to Astbury Park, New Jersey, do a Bruce Springsteen pilgrimage tour of the famous places of e-street folklore.

Thanks for posting that Colorado episode of Aerial America. Cool series. Something new for me.

Let me know when you plan to drive north. As a beach town, elements of Asbury Park and the surrounding area are closed during winter. Not everything. But some things. If you can wait until spring, you might have more fun.

It's a small town. A bit tatty round the edges. Do not skimp on accommodation; avoid cheap motels.

Woke up this morning had a cup of joe and a Belgian waffle with blueberries, syrup and a ton of cream.

I got round to fitting the ford racing boss laguna seca transmission air scoop. Ford racing has found it reduces transmission temperature by 10F.

Here is the new ford oem underbody tray.

Here is the track pack pencil brace.

The air scoop.

The solid rear axle.

Saw this new edge mustang, in hindsight I should have got one of these instead, they sell from $5k upwards and will take a coyote v8 swap. I would have saved a lot of money.

I then went to home depot to pickup supplies for my cabin. Spotted this mint Dodge Ram Cummins Diesel 4wd. What an adventure rig.

Upon coming back out a ZL1 had parked across from me. This is by far my favorite Camaro, in that same color.

As you plan your trip, here's a slice of vintage Asbury Park. From earlier this year.

A century ago, there were the usual seaside attractions (like a smaller Blackpool).

I should be in Astbury Park in the new year sometime, kind of looks like an alternate dimension of Blackpool without the sewage. I am not really into seaside towns but it's on the list of places to visit along with Atlantic City.

I'm not modding the mustang this month other than a battery tender connector for the cigarette lighter socket, I'll leave the mustang on a tender at the cabin and take my Buell to work. I am not worried about leaving the car at home, it has 2nd amendment protection. I am planning to spend Christmas at the cabin and repaint the outside deck.

Ordered a new windshield pin, speed sensor and brake lever, I'll need to do a 20w50 full syn oil change on the engine and primary, tighten the primary chain, and a general safety inspection.

The ulysses and buell xb's are definitely marmite motorcycles. I remember seeing the XB's in a Harley dealership in Stockport 10 years ago and remembered how cool they looked. Maintenance is very low and they are simple to work on. Harley will still support them for about 5 more years before they pull the plug and by that time I aim to achieve 100k miles on it. Now if I can get a good trade in price for a new v strom it's another story, however that will be very unlikely.

The new speed sensor.

A small update.

So petrol is at the lowest I have seen it since I moved here. A benefit of the coyote motor is the choice to run it from regular to premium.

There have a been a few big winter storms here lately. I ended up getting caught out on the interstate and lost the back end in an inch of snow with these summer tires. I managed to rescue it but I was lucky. I'm done with summer tires once the tread wears out. The plan is to move to 285's in front and 305's in rear on bf goodrich sport comp extreme all season 2's.

I've also been practicing with 3m dinoc carbon fiber wrap on some of the plain interior plastics. Much harder than it look especially on aggressive angles and corners.

I finally got round to fitting the california special side scoops. These should be the last exterior mods I am doing. For the rest of the year I'll be focusing on the essential items like a radar detector, oil separators, bonnet struts, gt500 rear discs.

I'll be leaving Virginia soon and I cannot wait. Virginia is one of the very few states to outlaw radar detectors so I'll be purchasing one in the near future. Also another stupid Virginia law is that you must have a front license plate. As soon as I cross the state line it is coming off.
