I've seen videos where you can reset the service indicator using the trip button, but can you do it when the service is over due? The counter says something like -1500 miles as it was never reset when the oil was changed.

Apparently on the 5 series it can't be reset the easy way when overdue, I imagine its the same in the mini.

If not, can it be done using INPA/DIS that I have installed for the 5 series? (e60 model, D-CAN cable).

Alternatively, if I buy a C110 scanner can that do it?

I think you can still do it. I did my own oil service but thought I had to buy something to plug in to reset it. So mileage went overdue but I used a link from Youtube and it now shows the mileage for the next Inspection.

Give it a go.

My R56 (58 plate) Mini was at the dealer for the service, I collected it and noticed the service interval had not been reset. The service receptionist came out and prodded the trip button; interval reset.

Maybe we should learn Morse code, then manufacturers could just put one button the dash and we'd tap in the command for whatever function is needed. The Trip button feels that way sometimes!

Bit of a delayed update, but FYI the reset worked even though the oil service was indicating it was over due smile
