Hi gents
Anyone booked on yet, seems like excellent value...
It will be my second visit but first driving my new (to me) 306gti6 track car.
Love the fact it's open, well sighted and plenty of run off for a newbie...it's the full gt circuit, open pitlane
Lots of prep being done to the car but will no doubt be nervous on the day...

No but,
I can't think of a better place for you to get to grips with the new steed (apart from blyton by many accounts).
You can have fun in anything there (there were some lads there in march in "mum's (mk4 golf) beige beetle)"
And as you say lots of space and the long straights which are a bit irrelevant in a slower car are a great chance for quicker cars or drivers to be allowed past.
Javelin are a professional outfit and whilst a bit 'old skool' you can still have fun. They do do more to enforce their own 'rules' too. I think you'll have a great day.
I don't know what anyone else's experiences are but we thought a Monday day would be full of real 'hardcore' people but weirdly when we did a Monday last month there were actually more 'normal' people - notwithstanding there were still caged m3s and a group of atoms etc but there were people in more 'normal' road cars. Was a different organiser so don't know if that's part of it..(??)
I loved the 4 days we did there this year and it's a shame we're getting shot if our car in a way!
It's a great place to get used to a car and track driving I think (although I dare say you could very easily over do it at another circuit having got used to bedford!)

To the OP our plan was always to go to silverstone next (a real
Shame that prob won't happen) and then oulton park for historical reasons!
The problem with silverstone is how expensive it normally is but there's a day in November in the region if £250-300 I seem to recall.
There's bags if run off at silverstone too and it's wide so whilst my reason is because I have watched racing there soooo many times I wanted a go around it.. It is also a logical place to go next.
Also be very aware that on the face of it Opentrack have a day at bedford mid nov at £99(!). Cheapest we ever paid was javelin in feb at around 130 (plus the fees for additional drivers).
But yeah if it was me I'd book in for this day and then plan on very rapidly booking one of the others close after.
Yeah it could be snowing by that point but whatevs!
I'd also recommend booking tuition on October 6. As long as you're open to the fact that they're probably ARDS instructors and obsessed with hands on steering wheel (entirely reasonable for racing) you'll feel a lot more confident. My tutor was fine but my cousin had a guy called Mark (??) who told him some slightly different lines and recommended gears which really helped us go quicker.
There are weird things too like the fast chicane is fine in 4th but in an NA mx5 3rd and more revs gives you more control and possibly more speed and definitely 'feels' better. Same with first corner 3rd is ok but it can feel a bit lacking in torque but in second you fly around and out you just have another gear change before the crappy chicane (at the top of the circuit drawing).

I'd love to know how he achieved that without mechanical failure at that circuit!
It's typo ridden but I can get my cousin to send me our corner by corner aide memoir for prior reading (I am not saying it's 100% but we have a slow mx5 on no name coilovers and decent brake lines and pads on t1rs and through the twisty bits we can now keep up with much better cars and even good drivers!... So we must be partially right!). Ps some of the lines on the you tube vids at the top of the page are 'wrong'.) obviously you're fwd and more oomph but the lines are quite similar as far as I can gather unless you're in a 911 and take a wider corner entry to a few of them.
If you tell the instructor that you've done it before, done the track before, but you're getting used to the car and want to refresh on lines etc. Also bear in mind that it's kind if crap value in terms of time per £ and that you manage your own expectations on that regard! Really make out like you are happy with track driving and that you're interested in lines for this circuit. Best way to get the best info from them I think.

That's great, any tips on lines etc would be much appreciated!
The BM flipped as it hit the edge of the Tarmac slip road exit after coming through the gravel, was a very sobering sight!
I was there with a few friends in our Impreza`s when this happened in May of this year http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unEONw5-x9s but i do agree the GT circuit is a great fun and safe track and an added bonus for me is its only about 30 mins drive from home and i have driven it a good few times............a few of my friends from our local Subaru club will be there on the 6th but unfortunately i cant make it because of work The BM flipped as it hit the edge of the Tarmac slip road exit after coming through the gravel, was a very sobering sight!
