Ian Callum's Jag Mk2 to enter production

'Limited edition run of cars' will be made. Would complement an E-Type Lightweight nicely...

Probably best start with the price. For one of the Jaguar Mk2s 'By Callum' now being made (exact production numbers TBC), Classic Motor Cars will ask for 'between £350,000 and £375,000'.

BRG with tan anyone?
BRG with tan anyone?
Buyers will be able to chose their own body and interior colour combinations if the grey/red seen on the launch car doesn't appeal. The decision to build a few more Mk2s came after a stunning reaction to the car's release last week. With buyers reputedly clamouring to buy one and with Callum's permission, CMC will start limited production.

At the moment, the confirmation is about all we have. If the requisite funds are available then the online brochure may be of interest. Looks awfully detailed for a car intended to be a one-off... The CMC website has some information on the Jag too. More as it's available!

Launch video here.

It was not offensive when reported it's Ian Callum's personal car/expression. Offering a chav'ed Mk II, however, is tasteless.

I pulled out of the estate this morning on my way to work, and saw an immaculate, original MkII on wire wheels waiting to join a queue of moving traffic - obviously being used for commuting.

Immediately I thought that it just defined the phrase "classic car" and could not see why anyone would want to change its appearance.

Sorry Mr Callum - not for me.

I think that looks rather lovely and has a nice menacing stance to it.

I think not.

I'm a bit of a fan of "restomods" - I like it!

A Mk11 with the supercharged V8 and all? Yes, please
smile

ETA do you think they'd do it with a manual 'box (overdrive optional) hehe

I like it a lot. Then I saw the price. But hey, it's not aimed at me. smile

Is CMC based in the Midlands? The car looked to be photographed on locations that include The Severn Valley Railway and Loton Park (towards the end of the video). The SVR runs through the Worcestershire & Shropshire countryside, whilst Loton Park is in Shropshire very near the Welsh border.

Well, that was a surprise, coming as it did so soon after the advert article just the other day...

Not for me. There seems to be a fashion to make cars look menacing and possibly owned by an oligarch / drug dealer. Personally I prefer beautiful cars in pretty colours; like my women. So a Mk11 in a period colour with chrome bumpers rather than plastic bumpers, pointless vents and a colour akin to light tarmac.

There was a lot of hate on Twitter and Facebook for this car a few days ago when it was first shown.

Personally I love it. cloud9

What's chav about it?

The stereo?
The big-diameter wide wheels, which do no suit it at all. It needs a set of proper small wires on it, which will also bring a lower and more predictable grip limit from skinnier tyres (re. GT86)

Hmmm, not fantastic is it?
The front valance apertures - cheap looking and not in keeping with the rest of the car
The wheels - too wide

If it wasn't Ian Callum associated with it what sort of reception would it receive?

Stop "re-imagining" things and design something fresh FFS

I can see how it may not be to some people's taste, but I'm struggling to see how a re-engineered Jag Mk2 could ever be described as chav.
Quite. Cad perhaps (oh, I say!), but not chav. evil

If its to personal spec then people can spec small wires and skinny tyres.

I'd go for small wheels and wide tyres to emulate the touring cars of the period.

Needs to be lower..

He talks about making the MK2 more pure and simple... just to make it more fussy?

Don't like it, at all.

I think I would prefer a rebuilt classic Mk II and still have LOTS to spend on other collectables.

Am I missing something here? That looks utter gash! It's looks horrid almost like ripspeed meets mk2 Jag. And he wants 350k+ for one? Fools and their money I suppose.

Do Beacham still do the upgraded MK2's - I seem to recall they were about 80k?

(not sure if that's plus donor or included though - and it was a while since I saw an ad for them)

I like bits of Callums, but not as a whole. The front is awful - but I do like the wheels, but not the rear arch.

Clearly the current success of JLR is going to their heads. This is just weird.
