Are your details up to date?

Edit: did you send the form back?
It was a leased company vehicle. So by the time it got to me it was three weeks after the date on the letter. I returned the form within twenty four hours with a covering letter explaining the delay. I didnt receive a summons to go to court or any further documentation, simply the Notice of fine and collection order yesterday.
Others have pointed this out but I wanted it to be clear. Who was the s172 addressed to? Did the lease company just forward it to you?
They contacted the lease company first, who then passed it on to my fleet department. Who in turn gave my details. The s172, when it arrived was addressed directly to me. I cant account for why it took as long to arrive. The date on the covering letter was apprx three prior to the letter arriving. I don't suppose this affects anything. It just seems indicative of the body involved's efficiency

£300 or £100?

£300 didn't send it back and court has awarded it. or did the op mis type?

I was caught last month doing 79 on the motorway and got 3 points and £100 fine with no course option
Really? Whilst the speed limit was 70mph? As it was only last month please scan and post the NIP and conviction stating the speed, as I call BS.

What seems odd about that Loon? I'd guess there is some reason why no course was offered (other previous conviction)? But does the fine and points look wrong for 79 in a 70?

Interested as I've had a 59 in a variable speed limit (my fault, I missed a change from 60 to 50) and got 3 + £100. I see that mine was worse as a percentage of the limit (10% + 4) Didn't get a course as I've done one 18 months previously.

Too low to get nicked for IMO. I'm happy to be proven wrong though. All he needs to do is post the details.

Bear in mind we have a few motorway coppers on here and they're fairly open that you're unlikely to get pulled at that speed.

79 is not "too low" for a speed awareness course, fixed penalty or if you don't qualify for the aforementioned then a summons.

I'm not staying it's technically too low. I'm saying it won't happen in practice.

...in a 30 limit that you didn't appear to know was a 30 limit, because you didn't understand what the signage was telling you, having last looked at a HC when you passed your test, at a guess?
Thank you for your contribution to this thread. I don't know about anyone else, but I have come away a better person as a direct result of your input

+1 yes

Whilst it might be unlikely to happen, there's no way anyone can say "it wont happen in practice" as if that's some sort of guarantee!

As I said in happy to be proven wrong. All the poster who claims he was done at 79 last month has to finis post it up. Until then I stand by my view.

He didn't say (and it's most unlikely) he got caught by a cop. You will get done at 79 by camera van or tripod mounted laser camera.

If you're that confident that getting "done" for doing 79mph in a 70 limit simply never happens, why don't you offer to pay the fines of anyone who can prove it's happened to them? - You know: "Put your money where your mouth is!" as the old saying goes! scratchchin

I suspect there are plenty of people who have been "done" at 79mph in a 70mph limit who have never even heard of Pistonheads, let alone come on here to complain about it!

I'll stand by My view that you simply cannot guarantee you'll never get "done" for doing 79mph in a 70mph limit (for a start off, if it's severely pouring with rain or there's fog on a motorway and you go bombing past a police car, then you're quite likely to get "done" for 79mph!).

It's as daft as asking for proof that drivers are 'done' at 35/30.

It does - the M6 through Cumbria being a prime example..
