Hi guys.
I bought a Gunson Ezibleed kit to bleed the brakes on my 72 2500M as I couldn't get the fluid through using normal pressure. I also bought the Gunson larger adjustable reservoir cap but it still isn't large enough to give a good seal.

Any tips on making a temporary seal? I guess getting a second filler cap and fixing the valve though that should work. Any sources for such a cap?

Many thanks in advance.
Cheers
Jim

It's an early TR6 cap I believe and not easy to get hold of. If I remember correctly used Gunson MultiPurpose Cap for the Eezibleed when I did mine.

If you can't get the fluid through sounds like you have a blockage may be master cylinder not returning or lack of free play baggy seals etc could be blocked bleed valves. (Remove and check) personally I just use a oil can filled with brake fluid and fill system via bleed valves. Easy as chips !!!!!!! Richard

IF you have had the system drained down you will need to raise the nose of the car (securely) to get the air out of the master cylinder and along with that, if you have the OE brake warning device , it might of shuttled across and need centralising.
THAT said, last week I had a car with brake balance issues where the internal of the brake hose closed up and stopped me from bleeding the system.

Thanks all for the helpful suggestions. I've been doing a "chassis upwards" resto on the car for the past few years and renewed/rebuilt all the braking system. I then tried to bleed it last year which is when I hit the problem. I've been busy playing with my Gilbern Invader since then and have only recently got back to the 2500M to tackle the bleeding issue.

Adrian, most interested in your advice. How far up does the front need to be? Also, how might I check/ re-centre the shuttle?
Cheers
Jim

Chock the rear securely and raise the front end slightly...an empty system gets air locked and the angle will help. Can I pass on advice on the PWDA...I set them after the system is bled, it is a two man job, that requires that a person presses the pedal whilst a nipple is release to correct the light, BUT, I would never choose to have one fitted.

Success! With the front raised, I decided to check the brand new bleed nipple to find that the small hole did not reach through to the centre void. I managed to knock a small pin through and I was able to bleed it normally (with a helper rather than with the Gunson) thereafter.
Thanks again for the most helpful information and advice.

Jim
