Once again, the Michelin Pilot Supersports are on back order.

I did have a pair reserved, but they turned out to be imaginary!

My rears, after almost 16000 miles, are down to almost 3mm, so really need to find some pronto.

Black circles can't help, others say they can get them, only to disappoint.

Any suggestions?

I'd hate to go begging around BMW dealers to receive a royal shafting like I did with my previous car.....they damaged the wheels on fitting too!

Has anyone got experience of other brands??

Not sure where you live Jazzer, but have you tried your local Merityre? I had 4 Michelin Pilot Supersports fitted to my M5 (albeit an E61 M5) by the Southfields branch and they sourced them from stock held in Germany (arrived in <5 days). Good price and no damage to my alloys. Worth a try, if you haven't contact them already?

If you can manage a bit of German, or Google Translate, pop over to ebay.de - there seems to be loads of new Supersports on there in 295/30/20 size. Just type the tyre size in the search bar (with gaps, e.g. 295 30 20 ) - they're more reasonably priced than the UK too, although you may blow some of the difference on shipping.

You tried oponeo.com they appear to list them. I've used them a few times and they were great.

I really appreciate these suggestions and will get to work on it.

Will let you know how I get on.

Ho Ho.....I hope you've been doing track days, that kind of tyre wear can't be through road use, can it?!

Ermmmm, nope whistle

I only used to get 9 or 10k out of a set of rears for my E60 535D M Sport and about 8k in my 997 C2S so thought I was doing quite well!

Bloody hell, that's some going!

Are you being naughty on roundabouts, heavy with the right foot?

How's your licence doing?!

Another one to keep in the tyre bookmark is tyreleader.co.uk. The come from the continent but are usually cheapest

I've just been directed to them. Friend was looking for a set on his GT-R (20") & they appeared to have stock. Also BlackCircles appeared to have stock in the size i need (19"). Me thinks when i get back from Nordschleife & Spa next week i may be needing a set.

@Jazzer

I do give it beans but don't drift.

I'm guessing 560hp going through rubber = less miles per mm of tread yes

Despite liking to 'press on' when conditions allow, I've always been relatively tyres. My car has now done 8,000 miles and the tyres will need replacing soon. Though I shouldn't be, I'm quite shocked at how quickly the car has used up a set.

I make good progress on a very regular basis, so I'm curious as to why mine are lasting more than twice as long.

Could geometry/tyre pressures be a big factor?

I check my pressures weekly (35 all round on 20s), with geometry checks every three months or so.

Just a thought!

Perfect wear across the tyre, I check the pressure regularly in iDrive (actually have a shortcut on the dash to it) and I can only assume it's because I do really, really press on smile

No,I'm sorry but I really really really press on and have still got a few mm's left even at 14k. In fact I can't understand why I have any tread left as I exercise my right foot on a very regular but responsible fashion.
I find the mid to top end when you're really giving it the bean's very addictive!
