sidelights not working.....
Discussion
Precat car with no working side lights, front, rear and number plate lights all out...... dash lights all on, dip lights work when side lights button pressed in........
button/switch seems okay, as had dash out and swapped all cables about on terminals, which had no affect
connectors to switch...... two with red& white cables, one with 2 red cables and one with just one cable
is there a hidden fuse somewhere as can't find one
totally

What? Something not working on your car, Steve!?!
Never! Impossible!
Ah, sorry that should have been "something WORKING on your car" (that not just crept in there somehow).
My apologies, Steve.
...Runs away very fast...
But seriously, hope you get it sorted. It looked great at the last meet!

The sidelights, number plate and rear lights are on the same circuit so if they are all out I would expect a fuse. According to the bible on page 240 there is a fuse for lights and hazards in position 11 (dips and main are on separate fuses). Do your hazards work? Of course thats assuming you have that fuse box!button/switch seems okay, as had dash out and swapped all cables about on terminals, which had no affect

When you find the fuse (there will be one) also check the spade connections behind the appropriate fuse. It can get pretty damp in the footwell and corrosion to contacts is very common.
As said above it has to be a main feed as all the sides are out.
Also worth checking you have +12v on the sidelight switch on the dash, both in and out.
Best of luck!

Hazzards all work.......
All fuses in fuse board are good, and all operations work attributed to them as detailed on the Early 4. fuse layout at the bottom of the page in the bible
I'll get the two cables checked that do not appear do nothing when connected disconnected from the switch...... but there must be a fuse somewhere for the sidelights...... as I said dash lights are all on, so must be two circuits running off the of the switch.....
I've just had an idea, and going look at the old loom which was taken out of the engine bay, I'm maybe suspecting some botched wiring which we haven't picked up.

Do the rear hazards work? Do any rear lights work, ie stop, fog, indicator, reverse? the rear lights go through a white connector block behind the carpet flap which is just behind the passenger seat door opening. Yu should be able to see which ones work and if you have a live here, and then follow back from there to the board (hopefully the cable is the same colour back to the board).
Sounds like someone has dislodged something during your new engine management fitting.

Hoover, couple of things to check - is the switch OK? If possible try another or check connections, secondly, relays! I am sure there may be a relay operating somewhere check the 'Bible'! Just a thought? Regards, Petebutton/switch seems okay, as had dash out and swapped all cables about on terminals, which had no affect

The connectors behind the door pillar are a good call FFG
I'd at least get them unplugged and scrubbed clean.
They all work according to Steve so its at the front where the issue lies.I'd at least get them unplugged and scrubbed clean.
Earth maybe?

On your side light switch the red wires should be live and the red/white feed the lights via the switch.
Have you checked that there are volts on the live (red) wire?
If no volts on the red wires you could try hard wiring +12 v to this side of the switch and see if the lights are then OK.
Then trace the red wires back to the supply?

I had a look at my fuseboard again last night. While its no use at all to you Hoov I do owe you a Thanks for helping me find why my alarm only flashed one side of the indicators.
There are 2 x 10a fuses specifically relating to the alarm - one for each side of the indicators. Fuses 6 & 7 from the left IIRC.
One of mine was popped and when I replaced it - hey presto, all the indicators now flash when I arm the car.
So cheers matey
I just wish I could help you in return.
